When was your Band placed? How much weight have you lost to date? How much fill do you have in your band? What size band do you have? Even not knowing these answers, I would say you may not have quite enough restriction yet. Also, you may just be in a plateau phase. BUT, all that aside, when I got frustrated because it was taking so long to get restriction, I did go back to the liquid phase for 2 weeks. (I was 6 months post-op and had had several fills and not enough restriction yet). I found that it got me motivated again and I did lose. Since then I've had 2 more fills and now I have really good restriction. Nothing keeps me going like seeing the scale move in the right direction and seeing my clothing getting too big.

Keep up your good work!

First off you are beyond doing ok in weight loss. You should be steadily losing 1-2 pounds per week. If you feel you're eating and portions are out of control you need to reign it in. You could do all shakes for 3 days and that should kick it up and detox any bad carb cravings you are having. Good Luck!

OMG, you've lost 50 lbs in 4 months??? That is awesome!! Honestly, bandsters are told we lose 1 to 2 lbs a week, as it's not as drastic as gastric bypass. I think you're doing great!

Just remember to get in at least 64 ounces of Water a day and shoot for 80 grams of protein--the more Protein and Water, the more successful you will be in the weight loss. Also integrating about 30 minutes of exercise per day will help tremendously. Walking is great, so if you can do that, it will not only help with weight loss, but the exercising might make you feel better too.

Congrats on losing the 50! Holy WOW! The weight I have lost has taken me 9 months, so I'd say you're ahead of the game, so remember to give yourself the credit you deserve!!!

You've lost 50 pounds in less than five months?

It's time to work on your thinking, not your loss. I understand that you "want more," but that is not realistic. And because your expectations are not realistic, I think it would be a mistake to resort to liquid dieting---it reinforces the disordered thinking/disordered eating connection rather than working on developing a new, healthier relationship with food.

If you find that you're veering off course, yes--get back to basics. Make wise choices. But do recognize that your rate of loss is higher than most experience---and try to reframe your thinking. (The "starting over on Monday" might be a good place to start; how about just making a good choice for dinner tonight?)

I have to agree totally with Betsy--I was banded in January 2010--excluding 30lbs loss on the six month supervised and including, two weeks pre-op, and post-op, I am down 52lbs--with 1 fill and not alot of restriction. I am happy with every pound:biggrin:.I am actually grateful for not having restriction because I have had to reshape my thinking about the scale, eating when I am hungry and stopping when I am satisfied, and eating for nourishment and not emotions. Learning those things are 100 times more important than the number on the scale. Be very proud of your accomplishment.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
