Unfill and now I'm eating too much

Recommended Posts

This is my first time on the forum, but I have been searching for an answer. I am about 4 months post band surgery. I have lost about 35 pounds and had been doing great. I had 6cc's in my 10cc band and was beginning to eat more, so I went back and added .4 ccs. Since then I have been really tight and was throwing up just about everything. Peanut Butter and mashed potatoes were about the only thing staying down. I went in for an unfill and because I had been throwing up for so long, she took 1 cc out. I feel like I have eaten everything under the sun the last couple of days because I can. It was like I was starving because nothing was going down and now I can't stop! Any suggestions? When should I go back and have her put more in, and how much? I don't want to be as miserable as I was before, but if I keep eating like I am I will put all of that 35 pounds back on:sad:

I've been there and I feel your pain! Maybe your doctor could fill you up 1/2 cc at a time as you make progress. You shouldn't be throwing everything up, nor should you be overeating. Everyone's band feels different.

Hope this helps.

Oh, man, do I understand what you are going through!!!! I think you should ask for a fill of half the amount they took out, and go from there. I do wish you the best as I am in the same situation!!!!

Do I need to wait a certain amount of time, before getting it filled again? I was just there having some taken out and now I am needing some put back in.... I still have the bruise where she took some out. Thanks for all the responses.

I have had the same problem. My doc (and keep in mind they all seem to be different) told me I could get a fill again once I was fully hydrated, even if it was only a week later.

Call your doc and double check. Best of luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
