juliansmom2003 3 Posted April 27, 2010 Quick question for those of you that have your fills done under fluoro. Do you find that you get right to the sweet spot due to the fact the doc can 'see' restriction real time or are you still needing to come in for fills? I am trying to figure out when the heck these fills will stick for awhile. Just had one on Thursday and called again for another appointment because I feel like nothing was done!!! I'm almost half way to capacity, so I'm wondering why I'm not feeling 'real' restriction when my doc can see it! :scared2:

I am about 6-7 cc's in my 10cc band and I am at real restriction. I am not hungry at all anymore. I can go for about 4-5 hours between meals.
BetsyB 9 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) He does take me right to restriction each time---but just as with fills without fluoro, the restriction can be very ephemeral. There's only so much Fluid that can go in at one time, when you make allowances for tissue swelling, etc. So, while I might be nice and snug at first, it has not always lingered. I do think that having fluoro gives him a bit more freedom to be generous with fill amounts---he doesn't need to be super cautious and give tiny fills because he can see whether a larger fill works. Ultimately, I do think this will get me where I want to be sooner than many experience. But I'm not quite there yet. I've got 3 fills down, 7.3 ccs in an 11-cc band, and think the next fill will likely get me where I need to be (and you've got almost 3 months' head start on me, time-wise, if that gives you an idea about the rate). BLKsAunt 0 Posted April 29, 2010 I'll get my first fill on 05/17/10, at Fill Centers USA. This location does not have a flouro. I'm really nervous about going that route about him puncturing something. I'm assured he MD is skilled.

OMG, THANK YOU for this post!!! This is EXACTLY what I needed to know! I'm wondering why he's telling me I'm restricted and seeing it on the screen and then I feel no difference when I go back to regular food a couple of days later. I was worried that 4.9 cc in a 10 cc band was kind of a lot to not be feeling restricted, but I feel so much better after reading your post. I must swell really fast, that's the only thing I can think of. That or the fact I have been doing a 40-minute circuit training work out that involves weights and total body fat burning at least 5 days a week (along with a mile walk), and maybe the fat around the band is diminishing? Crazy, I was hungry every HOUR yesterday. No exaggeration! 3 more weeks to go, so hopefully he can give me something. Thanks again, Betsy!
bella71 0 Posted April 29, 2010 Hang in there chickie. I find that if I eat a lot of simple carbs, I just don't lose weight. I've gotten to the point where I pretty much have eliminated all the bagel chips, crackers and stuff from my diet. I'll have whole wheat melba toast with my tuna salad, but that's it. I don't do well with rice, either. Corn tortillas and tostadas seem to be OK. I've read about how some people are carbohydrate resistant, and I'm definitely one of them. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to eat bread again. But if I'm losing weight, and feeling good, I don't care. Lean Proteins, fat-free Beans made in the crock pot, and leafy green veggies are my staples, and I've never felt better. Good luck
