Single Incision

Has anyone have Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery. My surgeon now offers it and it sounds great, no scars! Has anyone gone threw this process, how do you like it?

I had the traditional surgery - 4 incisions and 3 of my scars have disappeared completely and the 4th , largest one is hardly visible. So although the single incision surgery sounds great I don't think there is that much of an advantage.

I had the single incision. It was done through my belly button so I will have NO visible scars. Also, because there are less cuts throught the abdominal wall, they say you heal quicker. This is the way to go!

Yes... I had single incision on March 19th, it was great. I was back to work in 6 days standing on my feet styling hair for 8 hours. I love my band, and am scheduled for my first fill on May 4th....down 16 pounds since surgery and 24 total since initial consult on Jan 13th.

I inquired about it as my doc was one of the first to do the procedure...he now says that he prefers a modified single incision - he locates the port by your belly button with a few small scars to the left and right...sounds like they will all be in the same general area vs. spread out on the tummy

I had the single incision surgery and it was great. I was up the next day, but i still took a month off after just so that i could adjust to thins.

My surgeon also offers the single incision, but because of my history with bloodclots, he said I wasn't a good candidate. The SILS has a longer surgery time, and it will be benificial for me to be under no longer than neccesary.

My surgeon uses this, and I am going in for surgery on Monday. I have heard the recovery is much faster, too.

Idk if its the best choice for me. My belly button kinda sit where my stomach bends. So im not sure how comfortable it would be for me. I was told he will talk to me before surgery and discuss whats better because when I went to meet him first this wasnt introduced.

Either way ive seen pics of people and the scars are barely there!

I heard that recovery time with SILS can be longer as they have to move things around more due to the fact that there is only 1 incision.

Hey Nean, did you end up having the trans-umbilical SILS?

That's what I'm scheduled for next week, and I would love to hear how it went for you. Doesn't seem like there are too many folks having that kind done, so I'm very curious!

I had single incision and it healed up in six weeks. It would have been less time, but my surgeon only glues the incision shut- no stitches or staples. That meant a week after surgery, when the glue had washed off, it was just a gaping wound. It slowly healed. You have to be careful if your surgeon doesn't sew/staple it shut, because about 2 weeks after it finally healed, it popped back open again in the middle of the incision. Almost 4 weeks later, it's almost healed again.

I did not get it done. The position of my belly button was not a good place for the incision, it would have caused me more pain then normal. My 4 little incisions arent even noticeable! To me it seems like there is only one. haha
