sweetbean70 2 Posted April 25, 2010 Which is better? 1) Buying new clothes in a smaller size OR 2) Fitting into an old piece of clothing that was ONCE too small I personally think that although new clothing is always a good thing, I would rather pull something out of my closet that I've had for years but couldn't wear anymore b/c it was too small and have it fit. WHAT'S YOUR OPINION? affengirl 5 Posted April 25, 2010 I agree with you. Unfortunately, I gave up on those clothes about 3 years ago - lol! I guess fitting into a smaller pair of jeans that I bought almost a year ago and vowed to fit into feels pretty good too!
Humming Bird 275 Posted April 25, 2010 Of course both are great when they are a smaller size! I have been doing quite a bit of "closet shopping" and I'm loving it! There are a couple brands of jeans that fit my body type well. I have many pairs of those jeans in smaller sizes that I kept thinking, "oh, I'll get bank in those someday." Now I am slowly but surely getting back in them. I'm glad I hung on to so many clothes over the last few years as I gained weight out of them. I know it is a style I like and they fit me well. I don't have to go spend time trying on clothes and it has saved me a ton of money as the weight comes off.
DianaG 0 Posted April 25, 2010 I agree with the closet shopping! It is so nice to be able to fit into some of my clothes that I packed away years ago. It is even better when those clothes get too large and I have to hunt the box, I had packed away, with the next size down! I still have several sizes to work my way through and then I will be happy to go shopping for new clothes. I also agree that it is nice to be able to make use of the old clothes for a while and thus be able to save money for when I really have to get a new wardrobe!
elcee 3,341 Posted April 25, 2010 I missed the boat with lots of clothing. Things I had bought and stashed away for one day when I lost weight. Many of them were too big by the time I remembered I had them. Now that's a great(if costly) feeling.
babsy 0 Posted April 25, 2010 I too love closet shopping. Today I wore a t-shirt that I hadn't worn for 5 years, and put another 6 shirts from the spare wardrobe into my every day wardrobe. My work clothes that were too tight now fit loosely, and my pants are starting to look a bit clownish, but the smaller size is there waiting, about 1 kg away. I'm also looking forward to buying new clothes, but want them to be small enough to last a while. Plus I'm going to Canada and USA for the first time in 8 weeks, and hope to buy some new clothes there. Though I will need some new ones suitable for living out of a suitcase for 8 weeks - not planning to do any ironing on holidays.
vlp1968 83 Posted April 25, 2010 I vote for the small clothes in the closet fitting. What a great feeling to try on clothes that were way too small and have them fit. Really shows how the body is changing. I have lost 69.5 pounds and haven't needed to buy any clothes yet.
Mommy of two 1 Posted April 27, 2010 for sure smallest clothes in the closet fitting! I've gotten back into all of my goal clothes and my very favorite back in the day feeling skinny goal pants are now too big! Time to shop for new things - but I want to lose my last 18 or so pounds first :scared2: I really NEVER thought those clothes would fit again.. NEVER
adagray 1 Posted April 27, 2010 I have an even better one... Buying new jeans that are too small. Letting them sit in the closet for about a month. Taking them out to try on to see how far you have to go to fit into them. And, realizing that they fit already! But, really, all of it is great. I love buying new clothes, but its also nice to fit into old smaller clothes too.

WHAT'S YOUR OPINION? I can't wait till I can go through my closet and actually fit into anything that is hanging in there. I think the only clothes that I wear now are t-shirts and stretchy work out pants. I have really let myself go. I'm set up to see Dr. Curry and get my psych evaluation tomorrow and to finally set a date for surgery!! I can't wait!!:scared2:
stargate713 0 Posted April 27, 2010 The sad thing for me is that I have been so big for so long that I don't have a lot of smaller clothes.....except for a few things in the next size down which i bought the last time I lost some weight. They still have the tags on.....so shows how long i maintained that weight. But they just about fit me again...so things are looking up! I guess I'd better dust off the credit card.... (Shhhhhhh...don't tell my hubby!)
