Happiness is.................. to finally have restriction!

For those who have not found their "sweet spot" don't give up. It took me 4 fills and 8 months to finally reach it. It maybe more or less time/fills for you, but you will reach it. I now love my band and have no regrets for having the surgery. The very best part is I'm healthy and I no longer take diabetic, high blood pressure, and cholestrol meds! The money I used to pay for my meds now buys clothes.

Oh, and I can finally cross my legs like a lady

Hang in there!

That's awesome! How do you know when you find that "sweet spot"? I've had a bunch of fills but still not sure what I'm feeling and if I'm "there" yet.

Everybody is different, but for me, I knew I hit it when after having my last fill and was able to eat mushy food, I was unable to eat scrambled eggs in the morning. I then made a Protein Shake, and stayed full, for four hours! My last fill was 3 weeks ago, I still am very tight in the morning and I HAVE to chew chew chew every piece of food. Before, I could eat eat eat and keep eating. Not that I did, I had to really have self control, it was like I didn't have the band at all and I became frustrated that I had the surgery. I love it now!

I know I'm not at restriction because I can eat like a horse. I also can eat any type of food, never get stuck, eat big bites, and don't chew very well. I'm looking forward to reaching restriction!

I'm one month post op and will have my first fill in 2 weeks. I guess I should not have too much expectation. I had my first stuck episode last night because I ate too fast and did not chew. I did not think it was possible because I haven't had a fill yet. But boy did it hurt. Drinking Water did not push it down, it only made it hurt worse. I had to go to the bathroom and throw up. I hope I learned my lesson. Don't want to go through that again.

Thank you for your post! I was beginning to feel hopeless~ Now, don't laugh, but I am only 10 days (yep- days!) out from my hiatal hernia nd band placement surgery, but am hungry ALL the time! I feel like I didn't evej have surgery--and worse, because my hernia is repaired, I don't even have heartburn anymore! I am SO done with the clear and full liquids (even thought the dietician says full liquids until next Friday!) Inb fact, I ma having 1 scrambled egg with a little diced ham in it for breakfast--I am HUNGRY! My next Dr appt is not until June 9th! I THINK that will be for my first fill, but what do I do until then??I am down 20 lbs since my pre-surgery high, but have remained the same weight for the last 4 days (since starting "full" liquids)..I am walking 1-3 miles a day..have a LOT of energy! Any suggestions?!?!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
