Hi Everyone,

My surgeon requested that I have a sleep study and I was lucky enough to get it right away. My sleep study is tonight, but I just wanted to know what to expect from this. I'm a little nervous and scared that I won't be able to fall asleep. Does anyone have any advice? Or can anyone let me know what to expect of the sleep study? Thanks!

You will have glue put on you so they can stick the wires all over you. They even put it in your hair. I had long hair when mine was done and it was hard to wash it out. I didn't sleep much to be honest, but the little I did sleep they were able to get readings on it. I sleep on my stomach and I had to sleep on my back and with so many wires couldn't move without getting tangled. Plus you have a mask on for the study, so that is a pain in the rear too.

Good luck and don't drink any caffeine or anything that will keep you from getting sleepy. I take tylonel pm to sleep and I took it that night. If you use a sleeping aid, take it LOL.

Great I have long hair. That's gonna be a pain! Oh well, it's all for the best. Unfortunately I can't take a sleep aid, they have horrible side effects on me the next day, so I'm just gonna have to tire myself out today. And I also sleep on my stomach, so I'm sure I'm not gonna be too comfortable  Thanks for the advice though. I appreciate it

I was sure that I was never going to be able to sleep with so many wires hooked up to me, plus knowing that someone was watching me kind of freaked me out, but in the end I did fall asleep, and I am sure that you will too. I did take something to help me sleep, and I do recommend that. Hope all goes well!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
