Hello Everyone,

I was banded on 3/24 and have been having really sharp pains in my lower left abdomen. It seems to get worse the more that I move around. I am able to eat fine and haven't had any vomitting. I am having a CT scan done tomorrow to check and see what is going on. My doctor didn't really say what he thought it was.

Has anyone had this type of pain before?

I was banded the day after you on 3/25. I too have pains in my left side and I was worried that it was my port....since the long incision is on the left side just below the pain. I was worried that it was my port and that it had come lose or was rubbing against something.

I had a fill yesterday and the doctor had me point to where exactly it hurt. He checked his chart and said that is where he found and fixed a hernia during the surgery. It was not my port...he checked under floro during the fill. He said that the hernia repair will be sore when I stretch the muscles. He didn't give me a time frame for when it will no longer bother me.

I really hope that your pain is something simple like mine. Good luck tomorrow and let us know what it ends up being.

I am 7 months post and still get this from time to time especially when doing my long walks. Yours could be from just all the work your body goes through to heal... hugs!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
