Almost 2 months done in my 6 month pre op journey

Recommended Posts

May 3rd will be two months into my 6 month pre surgical weight loss program. Im so excited. I have been meeting with the dietician and setting and making little goals.

I decided that I need to prepare myself for my new way of life post op as much as I can now.

Last week I went to a pottery shop with a friend and painted a small plate and bowl to use post op. It is just a smaller bowl and plate. So I can have this special thing to use and look forward to. They turned out really cool. They fired them in a kiln and protected them to make them dishwasher and food safe.

Im also keeping a journal to record this journey.

Question:

How long were most of you off of work post op?

Congrats on finishing two out of the six months of pre op diet!! I had to do 3 months and tried to lose as much weight as I could... didn't really work very well, school is a big stress for me!

As for the being off of work, I cant help you with that, because my date isnt until 5/17, but I did only take a week off, a lot of people say thats enough but it all depends!

Anyways! Good luck with your journey, you will do great!

My surgeon told me that I could go back to work in 3-4 days. I will spend the night in the hospital and then back to work that soon? I was just wondering if that is realistic or should I just plan on taking a week off?

Mine suggested a week off but he said most people dont listen and are ready to get back within 3-4 days. If noone answers you , you should try posting this question in the post-op , they prolly will be more likely to know!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
