the feeling that in 30 seconds you're going to puke your guts out all day long? Cause I'm there. A good chunk of the day I can barely get liquids down and eating isn't really happening. When I do eat, I better be near a bathroom because it's not likely to stay down. The funny thing is that I don't throw up the actual food... I just produce huge amounts of slime and the food stays down. What in the holly hell have I got myself into?

No this doesn't sound like restriction, this sounds like too tight.

I agree - it sounds like you're too tight. Man, that must suck! It's like you're "stuck" all the time. Better see your doc ASAP.

Add me to the "no" camp. That doesn't sound like restriction--it sounds like over-restriction.

How long ago were you filled? My doctor says that, as you get closer to restriction, you definitely toe the line between good restriction and over-restriction. His "rule" is that, if you experience this kind of sensation in the days after a fill, but can keep liquids down (no need to worry about--or even eat---solids at first), it's okay to ride it out to see if, when the swelling from the fill recedes, you find yourself at a comfortable spot.

If so, he recommends easing back into solids very gently and gradually.

If it's been more than a few days for you, I think I'd give the doc a call.

You are too tight, however you could be just swollen. Go back to liquids for a couple days, then try mushies gradually, then solids very carefully. Very small bites, and chew them very well. If it doesn't help, get a slight unfill. Too tight is not a good thing. As we all know, we tend to think if a little is a good thing, then a whole lot is better. You will not lose weight if you are too tight. You should be able to eat food, but if you are just swollen, you will hate it after an unfill too. The only thing worse than too tight, is not enough restriction. Try not to panic..... Hugs!!!!

It sounds like too tight and/or swollen from all your stuck episode. You should not be sliming like that. It means your food is getting stuck, and having a very hard time going down. I would just do the liquids for a couple of days like others recomend and then mushies for a couple of days. If after that you still can't eat real food than it would be a really good idea to check with your doc. Hope you feel better!

I felt the same way after a fill and ended up going for a slight unfill and felt so great afterward. I was able to get filled again the next visit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
