Four weeks Post-op and able to EAT! Not good!

Recommended Posts

Just after surgery and for the first 2 weeks I was following the diet perfectly without any hunger or cravings. I can't say that I've cheated. I mean, no carbs (outside of veggies) or sugar of any kind. But I'm fitting a good cup and 1/2 of food even when chewing slowly, taking so much time, etc...just to get that "no hunger" feeling. I'm assuming my first fill will change things for the better, but what can I do in the meantime? I have continued to lose, but now very, very slowly over the past 2 weeks. I feel the hunger especially now that I am exercising.

Any suggestions? :)

other then be patient, there is not much you can do other then what you are doing at this stage. This is a process, not a quick fix. We all went into this knowing the basics of how the process works. I lost almost 40 lbs the first 6 weeks, then gained a few. I've had 2 fills for a total of 5.6 in my 10. band and only have minimum restriction. I'll continue to do the best I can knowing that restriction will come eventually. I was banded 12-21-09.

I am 6 weeks out and at 3 to 4 weeks I was having a problem with head Hunger. I ate cause I wanted to not that I was hungery. So I changed my diet to this. Protein Shake @ 6 a.m ( I am a early bird) Walked 2 miles and then ate Egg beaters with cheese @ 9. lunch was a South Beach Meal Protein Bar. snack at 4- Cheese Stick. dinner is a meat and one veggie. And on the days I could drink my 64 oz of Water, I am not hungery. I lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks. I feel great and tomorrow go back to Doctor for my first appointment. I am not looking for a fill. This doctor will not, if you are losing. Hang in there, it will happen. I still have no restriction, but I am still losing weight.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
