A totally new life, and completely nervous!!

Recommended Posts

So I am three weeks post op and this is my last day of liquids!! I'm excited but nervous only because of the what if's of everything. I must say I do feel good but have to laugh because I have an eleven month old at home and feel like we are trying new foods together! I am worried that food might get stuck. I am just totally nervous of what life has to bring me being heavy my whole life and am not the social butterfly. So it's totally new to me I' scared and excited all at once!!:)

You have so many wonderful firsts to look forward to. I am three months out and 49 pounds down. I haven't had any stuck episodes but it's good to approach each new food slowly. Before you know it your new life will feel second nature! I am so thankful for my band. Life is so much better now. I am excited for you! Follow your doctor's plan and you will be well on your way.

You and I share the same attitude, smashleigh. I am one week out tomorrow and still on mushies, but am already totally looking at food through a whole new lens. I'm a bit of an introvert, so I understand how it is scary, yer exciting to think of ourselves as "normal" sized people! Good luck to you!

i'm one month post-op and enjoying every minute of my new life. I'm down 30 lbs and people are starting to do a double take. My daughter came home from work (at subway sandwich shop) and her friends saw me this morning and noticed i've lost a lot of weight. Not near enough for me, but its a good start.

Stay focused. i've had the stuck episode already, but it passes and you understand the meaning better after it happens. You realize how to avoid it next time. Here's to our new beautiful bodies.

New Bandsters,

Yea, it is a scary time. Changes you need to make totally make it a NEW life you are moving into. Balance the good with the bad.

For the next few months, you will be fighting banster hell. This is where you will feel hungry. You will fight with your head hunger. You will (or should) be working out harder than you have ever done and it will sometimes make you sore. You will have to stop pigging out, gorging, or eating crappy high carb, or high calorie, or high sugar foods. You probably will have to research everything you eat and write it down and count the Proteins and calories. You will have to learn to like Protein shakes, fruits, vegetables, and meat/fish/chicken etc.

BUT.....

You will lose weight faster than you ever have if you do the right things. Your clothes will fit better. You will come off of High Blood Pressure meds, Diabetic meds, stop needing a CPAP machine to sleep. You will have more energy and be more alert from coming off a carb addiction and having less weight on your body.

You will notice a ton of small successes. You will fit into small cars and airplanes. You will be able to go to amusement parks and ride the rides. You will be able to play with your kids. You will enjoy better sex. You will have fun and people will notice your changes. This will make you feel good and give you positive attention.

In a few months, after 3 or 4 fills, you will feel the restriction. You also will notice and need food less. You will not have any problem not drinking with meals. YOU WILL get stuck sometime. It happens. It really doesn't hurt and really teaches you something.

You have made a wonderful choice with your life. You have spent time and money to make your life better. Fear is normal, success takes work. Have both.

Congratulations on making a GREAT choice for YOU.

TJ

I agree with all of the above bandsters insight, except, getting stuck hurts like hell!!! It is one of the most painful experiences. But you will survive it and learn from it

It truly is a wonderful beginning to the rest of your life. My life has changed so much, and I haven't stopped being excited since I found out I was going to get a band. I love that I don't worry about food anymore. I love that I am not obsessed any more about gaining back the weight I've lost. I love shopping for clothes. I love the attention I get. I love that I am not hungry all the time like I used to be when I dieted pre band. I love everything about this journey and you will too.!!! Hugs!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
