I am 24 days first surgery post op. I had to have a "corrective surgery" 3 days after the first. I couldn't hold anything down.

The doctor said he had never seen so much adipose tissue in all 600+ surgeries he said he's done. My BMI was 38.5 and I was 303 lbs. Presently, I am hungry just like I was before the surgery. I am scheduled to have my first fill in 6 days. After my first surgery the access port was not only visual but seemed like it would stick out for all to see. Now? I tried to locate it and I can't find it anywhere. Should I be worried that the doctor won't be able find it for my fill? Will my hunger go away? I lost 28 pounds at first, but have gained 8 back. Has anyone else had to have 2 surgeries to complete the lap band procedure? :unsure:I'm kind of scared and would appreciate some help...Thanks you.

Once you have had enough fills, you won't be hungry. It took me 3 fills. Try not to worry, it will work.

As far as accessing your port, I have heard it mentioned on this board that the doctor couldn't find the spot. I don't know how common this is. I would try not to worry until you go in. He may be able to feel it with no problem.

If your surgeon has trouble finding your port spot they can do a fluro fill. It basically is like a fill under x ray. No worries though, Im sure your doc will find it. Just keep positive and focus on your goal. Good luck

Good luck, but don't worry - I cannot feel my port but my doctor found it with no difficulty. I had my first fill Thursday, and was quite worried about it. It was no big deal, and didn't hurt! They gave me 2.5cc filled into my 10cc band. Unfortunately, I still don't feel any restriction. It IS hard, I just keep telling myself that this band will work - just may take awile to get to that "sweet spot" that everyone keeps talking about.

Start 3/5/10 350lb

First Fill 4/15/10

Current 4/18/10 320lb

Your doctor will know where your port is. He put it in after all. I had to switch doctors and my new doctor was able to find my port with little trouble. Restriction will take a few fills. I have 5.6 in my 10. band and have minimal restriction. This is a process, not a quick fix. Slow down and enjoy the ride.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
