I ordered one after reading all the entries a week ago. If you're unconscious and you have someone not familiar with lap bands in the ER, it could be damaging. Whether or not I actually wear it will be another story. I was already thinking of what I'll say when my colleagues ask me about it. I do think it's worth it.

lol @tattoo.. I know someone who has DNR tattooed across his chest...

I've thought about it, but it would annoy me so much to wear a Bracelet all the time. Are there other options? I would rather be tatoo'd w/that info than have to wear a bracelet all the time. For the meantime, I just hope that if I am ever in a bad accident, they will know from my scars or family/friends will be able to tell them. Everyone knows I have it. Oh, I also carry a card in my wallet that says I have the LAP-BAND®, but I realize the chances of them seeing that are probably miniscule at best.

I'm considering getting one after reading this thread. What kind could I get that I could wear 24/7 comfortably and not need to remove when showering?

I think you'd want stainless steel or silver. Gold would be very expensive. You can get one on Ebay, if you're looking for something more unique, go to www.creativemedicalid.com

They have some very different ones for reasonable prices.

I got a Bracelet from there and then a cheapie dog tag on ebay that I can throw on my neck when I don't feel like wearing a bracelet. The bracelet was 60.00 and the dog tag was only 7.00.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
