vow 0 Posted April 19, 2010 I'd suggest avoiding as much artificially sweetened stuff as possible, it just doesn't do your body any good to think it's getting sugar(y) foods/drinks. Cream of mushroom/tomato/brocoli/chicken/potato are all good (I was instructed to strain out the chunkier Soups like the brocoli) Even non-fruit yogurt is allowable at this point. Non-fat or skim milk is also good. You can have V-8 juice now which was like a meal for me during my full liquid week. Drinking a low carb type of Protein drink is important at least 2 a day, if you're doing a powdered whey Protein, mixing it with skim milk is great (I mix mine all in the magic bullet that thing is a life saver) My nut also allowed for really runny mashed potatoes (I had to add milk to get them to a soupier texture and they were like ambrosia) Good luck on Full liquids Week! jre1974 0 Posted April 19, 2010 I practically live on Creamy Tomato Soup...I started doing some of the thicker, Creamer Soups like potato Soup and even some clam chowder, but I'd always put them through the blender first to blend up the chunks...those were good and a bit more filling, although the sodium levels in the potato soup and clam chowder are very high, so I wouldn't suggest eating those at every meal; it may cause you to retain some Water...Basically, if you can drink it through a straw - its good to go... Good luck
Katy517 1 Posted April 19, 2010 I've got six weeks of full liquids to look forward to so am pretty familiar with it and will be following this thread for new ideas to avoid it getting too monotonous. My basic full liquid diet prescribed by my surgeon includes: Water, Decaf tea and sugar-free non-carbonated beverages like Crystal Light and Diet Snapple. No sugar added apple, white grape and cranberry juice diluted by 1/2 with Water.< br /> Sugar-free Jello. Sugar-free popsicles. Sodium-free and fat-free chicken, turkey, beef and vegetable broth. Sodium-free and fat-free cream of Tomato and cream of broccoli Soups - store bought only. Blended fat-free yogurt. Skim milk. Apple sauce. My nutritionist added: Greek yogurt. Whey Protein powder. Other cream soups including homemade as long as the chunks are either removed or blended completely.
