Hi:

This question is aimed at those of us that are 40+. I was just wondering if others who've lost alot feel younger like I do? I am 50 and I feel like I'm 35 again and I've felt this way since I lost my first 125 pounds. Anyone else?

I think it's great that I feel this way, and I hope others do too. I love my band!

Sue

I definitely feel much younger. I don't hurt every single day when I wake up like I used to before being banded. Unfortunately, I look a little older...you know that fat we are losing DOES fill in the wrinkles a little.

Starting to feel old was the reason I got banded. I wasnt as overweight as some but it was really making me feel old, unfit and tired. I feel soooo much better now.

I can't believe how much energy I have these days. Before banding, I was seriously convincing myself that I had "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" or something similar. Turns out I was just fat, unfit and depressed - go figure! I had to pick 15 years younger because 10 years ago, I was gaining weight rapidly and really starting to feel old and tired all the time. To be honest, I haven't felt this fit and healthy for more than 20 years!

Same here Fanny, I've been to my doctor once or twice and demanded tests becuase I felt so awful - once I wanted my Iron checked and then when my sister was diagnosed with an underacive thyroid, I was convinced that must be my problem too - I mean, I needed a nap at 2pm every day!

Nowadays, I can easily outrun my grade six students, they were all exhaused on camp and I thought it was more like a relaxing holiday! I couldnt even HOPE to get through a full time job and full.time parenting like I'm doing these days in the state I was in five or six years ago.

As this is my first year teaching and my first ever camp, my colleagues had been having a great time ribbing me about how exhausted I'd be and they've all been rather put out that I havent collapsed in a heap yet. Quite the contrary, I'm enjoying my fast paced life.

61 and feeling 31!!!!! My blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure are now all in the normal range and I feel so well. I am walking 3 miles a day on the treadmill at the maximum incline. Although my weight loss seems to have stalled I still would not change a thing - I just wish I had been banded years ago.

I feel a whole lot younger but I look way older, guess it's a fare trade off because I think it's better to feel young and look a little older then to look young and feel as old as crap.

I'm on the fence with this one. Some days I feel younger. I do look more wrinkled and my saggy, lumpy underarms drive me nuts. I think part of the reason I got banded was a mid-life crisis thing. So, some days I feel younger and some I feel the same. Other things in life make me feel old (the mid-life crisis thing again) like my son and grandson getting older. Each new grey hair makes me feel older, but right now I am glad my hair that thinned so bad is growing back. I would rather have a few grey hairs than balding spots!

I've been teaching for 20 years, but last year was the worst. At 5'2" and nearly 300lbs, I was in pain, felt exhausted all the time, and spent as much time sitting as possible. I had resisted even the notion of bariatric surgery for quite some time, but as my weight rose during the years, I began to fear that I wouldn't be able to continue doing the job I love--I felt SO old and worn out. Sometimes I laugh to myself when I think about all the weight I was carrying around--I imagine myself hoisting two of my second graders (about equal to the amount of weight I've lost so far) on my back and trying to do my job! No wonder I was exhausted. I feel younger for sure! Yeah! Hoping I can continue teaching for another 15-20 years now!

I have always been told that I look younger than I am but for the couple of years before being banded I was beginning to look and feel really old. Huge stomach, tuck shop arms , lots of chins and a puffy bloated face do not make a pretty picture.

Now that I have lost the weight I feel and hopefully look great too.I have lots more energy. I feel good about myself on a daily basis and its great.I tend to really feel younger when I compare myself to others that are around the same age. e.g Susan Boyle is about a year older than me.

Loving my band

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
