I've lost a good 50 plus pounds, but now that I am officially 8 weeks out from surgery, I have no clue as to what to eat. I am starting to really crave sweets again and carbs and I know don't need that stuff. I have been pretty good at steering clear, but I'm lost as to what I can and cannot eat, or should and should not eat.

In addition, I don't think I am feeling restriction. It seems like after I eat my prepared portion, I am still hungry...I don't know if it's the old ways trying to creep back up or what!!

Could someone please help me. Those of you that have been successful can you share some of your menu ideas? What does restriction feel like? I am starting Lindora in 2 days, but I just want to know what some of you all are doing...it seems like Lindora is really trying to push their products!

I just had jmy first fill. The doctors office said what ever you are doing keep doing it so I stayed on the liquids and mush and was staying hungry. Someone on here told me to eat a pc of fish which I did about the size of 2 fingers and I am so full I can eat my veggies.

From what I have learned is keep with high protien items. Stay away from hard to digest items like steak.

Every morning I have a protien shake

1/4 cup fresh fruit I keep it frozen in bags

1/4 cup fruit juice

ice

powder protien it comes in diffrent fruit flavors because I hated the reg ones.

I now eat a small lunch and have a snack if I am hungry I found some protien sticks and they are so good 15 g of protien and no fat and every now and than I have a yogart

finally full once I ate a small amount of meat/ fish

You did not mention anything about a fill. Have you had a fill yet? Many do not feel much restriction until the 3rd or 4th fill. There is not really anything you can do about sweet cravings except stay away from them. Over time, it dissapates and you won't crave them so much...

Hunger is usually best remedied by eating Protein. Protein in solid form, meat, pork, chicken, fish, low fat cheese, eggs, etc. Try to stay from anything liquid other than Water, as liquid calories go straight through your pouch and therefore are not very satisfying. Choose your carbs wisely. veg and whole grain sources are the best carbs. If you hate a particular type of meat, don't eat it. There are many choices out there for protein. Convenience foods, even though, I do use them sometimes, are high in salt and fat, and sugar. They work occasionally in a pinch, but a solid diet of them will keep you from losing. I personally don't know anything about Lindora. Hope some of this helps... Have a great week...... Hugs!!!

I really appreciate the responses!

I have had my first fill back in March. I am due for another one next week.

What type of protien sticks did you find. I haven't been eating a lot of meat because it seems to get stuck. I am going to get some deli meat and see how that works, and also some fish.

the Protein sticks are OS TRIM high protein and they are an ostrich stick like the beef sticks you find in mini markets they are so good I take really small bits and I chew chew chew.

I buy them at the health food store and I buy a box at a time so I have plenty of them on hand

Here is what I eat (mostly), I looked into the Lindora but it seemed like a diet, I think I needed a different way to eat so I didn't do it, now if I could just get them to stop emailing me!

Breakfast is usually 1 of 3 things.

1) 1 egg and 1 piece of bacon

2) EAS low carb Protein Shake

3) Jachut's Green smoothie (1 cup Water, 1 cup fresh spinach, 1/2 banana, 1/2 apple, 1 scoop unjury unflavored Protein Powder pureed in blender)

snack, If I am hungry I have either

1) 1 cheese stick string cheese

2) Laughing cow light cheese wedge with 6 crackers

3) Greek yogurt

4) EAS shake

lunch

1) A piece of fish (4 Oz by weight)

2) Leftover meat from the night before, (2 Oz if beef)

3) If I am busy at work, Starkist lunch to go or a can of sardines with 6 crackers.

I add a veggie to one of the meats above either leftovers from the night before or canned that I can heat up easily at work.

Afternoon Snack I choose 1 from the snack list above

dinner (usually cooked on the grill)

1) Beef 2 Oz

2) chicken 4 Oz

3) Fish 4 Oz

4) Pork 2 Oz

I measure my meat by weight and my veggies by measure cup. We cut up fresh veggies and put them on the grill too. I make sweet potato's in the microwave and eat 1/2 of it with butter. I usually have 1/2 cup veggies and 1/2 cup carb.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
