LapNYC 3 Posted April 14, 2010 My husband and I are going to a dinner party two days after a fill, we really shouldn't cancel (new friends from our son's school, invited us a long time ago, lots of orchestration involved) and I can't change my fill appointment either (it's my third fill, I'm required to see my doctor I haven't seen since surgery for this one and appointments while my kids are in school are hard to come by). Long way of saying, I can't really change things. So do I... Say I had the flu a couple days ago and can't eat quite yet? Say I'm on a diet and ate at home before going out? Say that I suddenly don't feel so great? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
elcee 3,341 Posted April 14, 2010 How about contacting your friend and asking if it's OK if you bring a special dish to share and then take something soft/mushy that you know you will be able to eat. If that doesn't work then maybe explain that you are on a restricted diet for whatever reason and work from there.
Cindy82281 0 Posted April 14, 2010 One thing that I always do right before or after a fill is say that I am having blood taken at the doctors office and I need to fast, or have no sugar, sodium...ect. And people usually seem to take that pretty well and not ask any questions. I think asking if you can bring something is a great idea, I know sometimes people insist on you just coming and bringing nothing, so maybe just bring something along that you know you will be able to eat.... Good Luck!!!
vlp1968 83 Posted April 14, 2010 Bringing something is a good idea but you may get "That's all your going to eat?". Personally, I am very comfortable talking about my wls. If your not, any simple excuse as to why you can't eat should work. Have fun, enjoy the company.
