Hey Monique- I sent you a PM.

Yep, same Dr. and I'm jealous you get to opt out of the sleep study, but NOT jealous that you're having to pay for everything. OUCH. Melissa is pretty confident that my INS will pay for it, but I just need to jump through a few hoops to get there. No biggie, I suppose!

Once it's approved, I'm hoping to get it done soon. The longer out it's scheduled, the more time I will have to obsess about it. KWIM?! I'd rather just schedule it and get it over with!!

Like you, I'm dreading the Optifast mess. What flavors are you going to get? I want to get a Magic Bullet that someone posted about so I can mix my shakes on the fly! SOOO not looking forward to that.

Nice to meet you!

Hey just thought I would pass this info on...I saw that posting about the Magic Bullet too...So I went online to craigslist.com and bought a BRAND NEW one for 30 bucks!! :Dancing_wub: You might take a look on there...I think costco has them pretty cheap too.

I went for my 3rd fill today and I have lost 34 pounds. YAY!! I have a friend that was banded one month before me and she has lost 70 pounds! I think that everyone has to follow whatever path works well for them. For me, I have a Protein shake every morning, then a sensible lunch & dinner. I really don't snack a lot. I do exercise almost every day, even if it is just 10 minutes...but I shoot for 40-60 minutes daily.

My biggest tip (since I'm not a veteren yet) is to not get discouraged at first. It takes a while to get going.

Best of luck to you!!

Also, for any of you True Results folks, the Ft. Worth support group meeting is on the 2nd Monday at 6:30 PM at their Hurst office. It is a FABULOUS group!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
