Question for those of you 1+ years out

How much food are you getting in per a meal?

I feel like I am way under the norm.

For example, I had maybe 3 table spoons of meatloaf with 2 scoops of mashed potato one night, last night I had pieces of KFC popcorn chicken and a small mashed.

For Breakfast, I cant even finish a muffin.

Plus do you drink with your meals?

I cant have a meal without drinking. Its just too dry otherwise.

Are you getting a cup or food in per a meal or less? Or more?

I'm averaging about a cup of food per meal, some meals it is less, some meals it is more. I'm going for a fill today to just tweak things a bit as the scale hasn't been moving and I've started to get hungry more often.

I mainly eat Protein, fruit, and dairy in the mornings (smoothie as I'm usually tightest then), Protein and a little veggie at noon, and the same at night. I rarely do potatoes. I can't eat muffins, my band just won't tolerate them.

I quit drinking with meals 6 months before my surgery. I stop drinking 30 minutes before and don't drink until 30 minutes after. I just don't have anything nearby to make it easier not to automatically reach for it.

I wonder if you are too tight - in that you end up having the mashed potatoes, which could be considered a slider food? If you are drinking with meals, that could be filling up your pouch too - and you need that space for good solid food, especially protein.

HTH!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
