Hello,

Hello,My name is LaQuita and I am 'new' to this board. BUT I am not a new bander. I was banded in August of 08. I am 5'2 and weighed 241. The first fill I was supposed to have, I couldn't have b/c the port had sliped and turned sideways. The Dr could not access it for the fill. I had to have surgery again 6 weeks later so the Dr could secure the port with more stitches. I had lost over 40+ pounds (down to 198) before I had my next set of problems with my band.I got to 7cc and started throwing up so the Dr took out 4 cc, waited a ferw months and we started back again. I got up to 7cc again and this time I started throwing up and wouldn't stop. My Dr couldnt see me so me sent me to the ER to have a raiologist take it ALL out. We did this the week before Christmas. I saw the Dr the first week of January and he said that the radiologist said my and had silpped from all the throwing up. So, now that this has happened twice I am having a band revision. This time he will use the Relaize band on me. He is taking the 'other' one out and putting this one in on March 1st 2010. I have since gained back some of the weight I had lost, from being able to eat more than I should. I am now at 225. I am an emotional eater, we have a special needs child at home (she is 20 years old) . I am her primary caregiver. I NEED encouragment especially since I feel that I have had so much trouble with my first band. Any encouragment that anyone can give me WILL BE GREATLY appreciated.!! Thanks so muchLaQuitawww.caringbridge.org/visit/shea

UPDATE: i WAS not able to get banded on March 1 as listed above. Our daughter 2 was in the hospital for over 20 days during this time for blood clots in her lungs, neck and both arms. We almost lost her! pRAISE the Lord :rolleyes2:she is home and doing well now.

So: my new band date is for TOMORROW/TODAY/MONDAY. woohoo:lol: So you can see that I am in need of someone mentoring me right now to keep me in check and to help me keep my mind on myself (mother's dnt do a good joob at this do we)? i appreciate and welcome nudging:thumbup:. Thanks ahead of time for the support.

Congratulations on your new band date.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter being sick, my son was so sick when he was little, the stress of them being in the hospital is unreal, I'm glad she is back home and doing well.

It is time for you to take care of yourself some too. How can you take care of these girls if you don't? Once your new band is in don't worry about losing just worry about healing your stomach and getting ready to change your eating habits. Good luck with surgery and be sure and come back to this site, it really has a lot of good information.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
