I was banded Nov. 16th 2009. Up until 2 weeks ago I have been writing down everything I eat, tracking the calories and protien grams. I went on vacation and didn't track. I did really well eating wise, even with going out to eat. I lost 4.5 pounds during that 2 weeks.

I haven't gone back to journaling. Part of me feels like I can't do that for the rest of my life, after all this is a lifestyle change. I also feel like I know what I should be eating, I have kept it really simple with a somewhat limited repertoir of food.< /p>

Just wondering if other people continue to journal or not. Let me know what you do and how it is working for you. Thanks!

I've been journaling as part of getting ready for my band. All my life, I have resisted journaling, hating the discipline of it, I guess. Anyhow, it is a very effective tool I've discovered. I was shocked at first about what actually went into my mouth, then I was shocked at how little I could eat at 1000 calories, which is my nutritionist's recommendation. Still shocked, still journaling.

I don't journal now, but I've been on WW A LOT before so have a bad association with journaling, starving, failing. I think it can be a good tool to get real w/yourself about what you are eating (if you need that). For me, at this point in my journey, I don't feel like I need it. I do try to eat only 3 meals a day, no Snacks, and aim for those meals to be no more than 400 calories each. At the end of the day, even though I haven't written anything down, I have kept a running tally in my head as to the number of Protein grams I've consumed and calories. It wouldn't be precise, but it would be pretty close.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
