2nd day with the band and very happy

Recommended Posts

was banded on wednesday April 7 by dr. Cirangle , the first night and morning i was absolutely hurting. had problems with CO2 gas and still cant get over how much my tummy is distended. this afternoon i took my first shower and walked around my block and it made a hell of a difference, although it still feels like i got hit by a car... i have lost 7 pounds since the day before the surgery. im feeling full and so happy i committed myself to living a long life. {quit smoking a week ago as well, cold turkey}..... while i'm awake i walk around the house briskly every 60 minutes, now if i could only sleep through the night ...this forum has been a good resource for myself and my family

I have another 2 weeks then the dr said start eating slowly regular food, and to remember to chew, chew, chew. Im down 10 since surgery. Keep up the good work!!

I was also banded on 4/7. I had trouble sleeping as well. I will be so glad when I can sleep on my side and stomach again. Still a bit sore and trying not to over do anything.

I have to be on a liquid diet for 10 days then mushies for 4 weeks. I have lost 5 pounds so far. I have been eating Tomato Soup and creamy chicken Soup I have had some yogurt and some sugar free pudding and 2 sugar free popsicles. Along with 2 Protein drinks I make it in a blender with ice and it tastes like choclate icecream. 4 oz of skim milk 1 scoop of the powder add some ice and blend. mmm mmm.

I wish everyone the best of luck and you begin your new journey.

I was banded 4/6. i lost 12 lbs so far. my swelling is going down and i am supposed to be on pureed food for 2 weeks until my follow up. today I ate scrambled eggs and chewed really well and had no problems. worried that i may progress to real food too soon and problems that may cause.

Congrats to all , I was banded on 04/08 and first 2 days were hard " gas and pain " but now Monday I feel so much better . Haven't weighed myself yet but my best advice is walk because that helped relieve the gas issue , cant wait for scrambled eggs on Friday : )

Hi All, First time writing on this forum. Was banded on 4/5. Down 13 pounds since day of surgery. Just got over the liquid diet and have progressed to thin puree. I also have IDS liquid Protein (got it through diet direct.com @ 3.29 a bottle. has 3.4 ounces in it) My doctor told me for a easy surgery I made it difficult due to having a hiatal hernia and a whole the size of a golf ball!! Any help with the pureed diet would be of help to me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
