Yesterday I had my 4th fill. I hit the sweet spot and it's awesome. I just have one question. Everytime I eat now I get the hiccups. Before this fill I got them once and awhile but not as often as I do now. They don't last that long, but I'm just curious, is this normal? Is this my bands way of saying, "I'm tight enough?"

I've only had one fill and don't have any restriction at all, really, but I have noticed if I eat too quickly and/or don't chew, I get the hiccups. I mean LOUD hiccups, like if I'm outside they echo so I'm sure the neighbors can hear! I assumed I was swallowing air when I ate too fast.

I've only had one fill and it wasn't enough so I am not at the "sweet spot" yet. I rarely get the hiccups, but everyone is different. I do belch a lot when I eat. As long as you can tolerate this okay, I wouldn't worry about it and they may go away in time.

Astrasmom, since you just had your fill yesterday, you can expect some of the swelling to go down in the next few days so you won't be quite as tight as you are now. Then you will be able to determine if you really are at the sweet spot. I had a fill Wednesday - it was soooo tight that I couldn't keep down Water that night, but every morning feels a little better. I will probably know by Monday if I am at the sweet spot.

Hi, I hicup, burp whatever you want to call it after I eat all the time. It let's me know I done eating.

I get the hiccups a lot. Almost every meal now. And it started after my fills.

Yep, I had my 4th fill and I hiccup all the time when my stomach says I'm done eating. If I take one more bite after that hiccup, I'm in the bathroom puking it up! So now I've learned after that hiccup to put down the fork because eating time is over!

I don't hiccup but usually burp. Sometimes I need to walk around and burp during a meal. Once I burp the pain in my chest goes away. I have learned if I eat beyond a slight pain in my chest I end up vomiting.

Thanks so much for all of your responses. I have determined that I am at my 'Sweet spot' because the swelling is down now. And I do still hiccup which DOES tell me that I am full and if I eat anymore after that I am in the bathroom puking. It's kind of weird how your signs of fullness change after each of your fills. Before I would just hiccup once when I was full, now it's about 10 times until it stops. I am loving this sweet spot though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
