need some help here. I've been struggling with the fill...unfill thing right now. Why is it that the amount of fill in your band is affected by your current weight? When I was at 240 I had 5.0 in my band and I was pretty ok, still a little hungry tho. I was then taken to a 5.4...which was good...I was still able to eat. I got sick in Feb and 1.0 was removed from my band. That took me down to a 4.4 which was a big mistake cause I was able to bulldoze anything in my way. I gained some pounds. I went back and .6 was added to my band which brought me back up to 5.0. Well now I weigh 219 and I am having a problem. It feels kinda tight. I am not suffering from night coughs and I am able to sip Water and eat mushies like hummus...pudding...but I have to eat really really slow. Im thinking about giving it a couple of more days before I call true results. I think I might have some inflammation due to the double stick when they added .6...at first, she couldn't find my port and kept moving the syringe around then we went to xray and everything was fine....she located the port, stuck me again and added the Fluid. If anyone has had this experience, I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks! Oh...before I forget...I just had my fill on 4/6/10...two days ago.

As you lose weight, the port position will change. My doc tells me exactly which way he can get into it and for me to tell him next time. This helps a lot. I'm tight right now too and have been teetering on having a small unfill. But I think I will see how I do. Other people say you swell when you get a fill and this makes it harder for several days. My doc also told me the restriction comes from how much they put in your band at one time. He gave me 2 cc once and it was too much of a restriction, so he took one out. The next fill, he only put in 1 cc and I felt no restriction, then 1.5 the next time and I barely felt anything. Like you, I have been able to eat anything, but trying to use a bit of self control and not eat bad things. Also discovered if I don't exercise, I don't lose.

I had a fill yesterday and this time the doc bumped it up again on the amount, and I feel soooo tight. I couldn't even keep down Water last night, but that's better this morning, so I guess a little swelling went down overnight. I'm going to play it by ear and try to enjoy my new restriction. Restriction is what we want, right? If it's a little uncomfortable and slows us down, that's a good thing, I hope.

Talk to you doc about this issue.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
