Yay! It wasn't bad, but geez I hurt! I only hurt in this one spot/hole. I guess it is the one that he used to do a lot of work with... IDK. It just hurrrrts. I finally got my pain meds. They haven't kicked in yet. I have had 2 oz of chicken broth and I am so full and bloated. So, I took a gas-x. That hasn't kicked in yet. My throat hurts from the breathing tube.

I know this pain won't last forever - just a very very annoying inconvenience. So far, I'm happy

However I don't know how I will get in bed tonight. I tried a couple of times and it so bad to do it. So, I got on the couch and sat and took a nap that way.

Anyway, for those who are questioning their decision about getting the lap band: don't. This is the first day of the rest of my life. I doubted my decision, but now I am happy with what the future could bring!

Congratulations on your band!

I spent the first three nights in a reclined but not lying down position to sleep, it hurt/pulled the incision on my side too much to twist and move to get in and out of bed, so I avoided it...

The gas, lol you are going to be a walking fart machine for few days... thankfully the bloated full feeling eases as the swelling goes down.

The sore throat from the breathing tube only lasts a day or two, I found sucking on ice chips and swallowing the super cold drops of Water helped with that a bunch!

Congrats again!

Congratulations, Manda and welcome to the other side!!!! Just keep walking that gas off. You will sound (and smell) like a truck driver, but it's all worth it in the end.

Lots of luck to you on your journey!!!

Everything you are feeling is normal. Also don't be surprised if you start hurting in your left shoulder - this is from the gas they blow up your belly with, and the pain will go away after a few days. Good luck with your weight loss journey!!

I had the same thoughts on the day of surgery. The pain does get better. I had two incisions that hurt the worst. My doctor jokingly told me that he beat me up in those two spots. My first thought after surgery was "WOW I actually did it." Now I am just looking forward to starting my new healthy life.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
