Banded 8 months...falling off course!

Recommended Posts

I have been banded almost 8 months now and I feel like I have fallen off the course. I have lost 44 lbs so far, which seems like a great amount to me, but I am not sure if it is where I really should be now. When I set my goals, the doctor said I should try to lose 55.2 lbs the first year. I am pretty close to it, but I haven't lost but 4 lbs since January.

I really only would like to lose 90 lbs total, so I am at my half way point, but since I have reached the 180's it seems like I am fighting to lose every pound. Any one else have this issue? How is everyone doing at their 8 month mark? I guess I thought this whole process would be easier, but food is something I have to constantly think about and it has been a bit of a struggle with me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Stephanie,

I have been banded 9 months and I understand what you are saying. I have lost 54 lbs. I was so disappointed with myself; I thought I should be further along than I am. I went in for a fill even though, deep down, I questioned whether I needed one. I got a fill and couldn't keep Water down. I went back the next day and had the saline from the previous fill removed. I was talking with the PA who does the fills where I go. I told him that I was unhappy with my progress. He told me that I am doing great and that I am right on target.

I know, for myself, my expectations are very high, too high I now realize. I had wanted to lose 90 in one year, that isn't going to happen.

I have accepted that I will not meet the goal I had originally set for myself, which is disappointing...but we have both lost quite a bit of weight, a life-changing amount.

My weight loss has slowed (I am in the 170s) and the last 10 pounds were REALLY hard to lose.

I work out 3 days a week and I eat too much dairy. I am going to increase my workouts and find a substitute for my love of cheese! I wish I had some advise for you...but all I have is a clear understanding.

You are doing great. Focus on how much easier life in general is; focus on how great it is to put on clothes you couldn't wear 8 months ago. You will get there, and so will I!

Angie

I find that if in life I was at a certain weight for a while when I hit that weight I stay there for while. I sat at 200 for weeks, same thing with 180.

I would first like to say PLEASE don't get into the mentality that you have "fallen off course" because that will kill your emotional progress

That said, I had only lost 30+ lbs by the 6 month mark. The difference is that, no matter what I lost, I had a positive attitude. I didn't give up, although sometimes I did get discouraged. Just focus on your accomplishments not "where you think you should be" and you will succeed!

I have been at a stall for months. I am 10 months out as this Friday, and have lost 67 lbs, but i have been here since Valentines Day. I am so frustrated. I know that I need a fill, I have not had one since October 12, as I lost my job 2 weeks later and lost my insurance also. I will get a fill in June however, and I am so ready to get the lbs dropping again.

I have lost 25 lbs since my last fill, that has me happy.

I have had those feelings many times - I think it gets the better of us all at some point (or many points). I have read some good books which help me with a bit of extra motivation - I would recommend "The Gabriel Method", all about getting your head right without being too psychological or self help obsessed.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
