I have to do a sleep apnea test as a part of my requirements...I am SUPER nervous. I sleep GREAT every night. All that I have been reading on here is how everyone was told they have sleep apnea...I find it kinda of weird that SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people that are required to have it done end up getting results saying they have sleep apnea. I haven't read very many people post that they DID NOT have sleep apnea. I'm freaked out about this test and soooooooo not looking forward to it AT ALL! Actually I am a little pissed about doing it. :)

Ah the test is a piece of cake. The worst part is the goop they put in your hair to put the probes on. My attendant was super cool and even watched a bit of TV with me while I had a late supper and put all my fears at ease. The sleep center I went to was in a nice upscale hotel so everything was plush and it felt more like a vacation that a sleep study.

The only down side was I do not like to sleep alone. Having breathing issues and having sever asthma like i do sleep time is stressful without my Hubby near by. The woman who set up my appointment never informed me that my husband could have come with me and slept in the same bed with me for the study. Instead we chatted via IMs while playing World of Warcraft online until I had to go to bed LOL

All and all it was not that bad.

Hi! Do not worry about the sleep study. As a previous poster said, the worst part is the goop..and getting it out of your hair the next day. It will probably not be the best night of sleep you will ever get, but you will survive. You mentioned that it seems that everyone that gets tested for sleep apnea is diagnosed. I know that it seems that way, but it is not the case. Sleep apnea tends to be weight related (but not always), so you will see alot of overweight people who are diagnosed. Good news is that with weight loss, people can decrease the severity of their apnea or even get rid of it all together. Hope this helps!

If I'd have ever had a problem with sleep or daytime fatigue, I'd have gone to my doctor first. Nevertheless I had to see a pulmonologist as part of my pre-approval. He insisted that despite me not having any sleep apnea markers I had to go to the sleep lab. Before my appt he'd already scheduled a CPAP fitting! When I questioned my surgeon I was told, "No CPAP - No surgery". In fact I had to bring my new $600+ machine to day surgery so they could hook me up post-procedure. Funny thing was - they never took the CPAP out of the case. Even funnier was when a fangled a copy of my sleep report and the doctor had noted,"Patient complains of extreme daytime fatigue and tiredness" - odd 'cause I never said anything to that effect!

I have tried to use this damn machine for over a month - I still get my best sleep without it!

I was anxious and angry about this test, too. I can NOT sleep on my back. Period. And when you have all the stuff hooked up to you, the only option you have is to sleep on your back. I was annoyed that I would have to get up and go to work the following day after not getting a good night's rest.

I was also annoyed because I knew I didn't have sleep apnea. My fiance and my dad both have it, so I am very clear about the signs and symptoms.

I was not diagnosed with sleep apnea, amazingly, and was cleared for the surgery. I didn't sleep well that night, but at least it's over.

Good luck, and hang in there. This was my least favorite part of the process. Not because it was awful, but because I can be real mean if I don't get good sleep!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
