MadysMom 3 Posted April 5, 2010 Okay, I know this is a personal post to throw out, but I need some advise. Before my band (I was banded 3/25/10), I went about 1-2 times a day. Now, I haven't gone since 3/30/10. I do not have any pain or cramping. Nor do I feel bloated. But, can this be healthy for me? Can having a band placed really change it that much!!?? I understand I'm eating way less than before, but still. I thought I would have only gone a few days and then went, but it's been over a week! Anyone have advice or suggestions? jensmallwood 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Don't let it go, even if you're not feeling any pain, etc. What stage of food are you on? If you're focusing on Protein and not getting much veggies or whole grains, Constipation will become a problem. I'd talk to your nutritionist about a Fiber supplement a few times a day... finding me 1 Posted April 5, 2010 Get some Benefiber (sp?)!!!! It dissolves nice and you can't taste it. I add it to cottage cheese, Protein Shakes, and Soups. It does help and I add it 3x a day about every other day.
lsprrnbr 0 Posted April 6, 2010 Definately incorporate more Fiber into your diet. You can do benefiber or eat high fiber foods like oatmeal. Also make sure that you are getting lots and lots of fluids in. I also had this problem shortly after surgery and occasionally have bouts of it. If it has been over a week, I would probably get some Milk of Magnesia or Magnesium Citrate or some other sort of laxative from the drug store. You will be miserable if that stuff sits in your bowels and gets hard.
MadysMom 3 Posted April 6, 2010 Oh, I hate to do a laxative. But, I know I don't want to be miserable either. I have some in the medicine cabinet. I'll take some before I go to bed. If I don't get relief by tomorrow, I may call my doctor and get his advice. Thanks guys!
