I'm in the mushy stage of my post-op diet. I walk no less than a mile a day and the scale hasn't moved since a few days after surgery. I haven't gained anything (Thank God!) but I haven't lost, either.

I take in about 800-950 cals a day. Should I eat less? Should I eat more? Should I keep doing what I'm doing and just wait it out? I'm not unsatisfied with what I've lost so far. I'm just wondering if and when the scale will move in the right direction for me again.

Hi:

You may want to increase your calories to between 1000 to 1200 per day and see if that helps. Your caloric intake might be too low and your body may be holding onto the calories because of this.

Best wishes with your band. I love my band and my new flat tummy.

Thanks so much, Sue! I'll try that. :smile2:

I didn't lose much in the mushy stage either. The mushies tend to be higher in sugars and carbs. Once you get back to solids and have a larger selections of foods to eat, you will lose more.

Amy -

I was banded the day after you and I weigh exactly the same as I did surgery morning. My calories average around 750 a day and I walk for about an hour a day. I can't seem to get the scale to budge either.

I posted yesterday about the same thing and the advice was to try to increase my calories to 1000-1200 a day. I am having a hard time doing this since I can only eat mushy foods and am limited to 1/2-cup per meal 3x a day.

I am so glad that someone else is having this same problem. It looks like we both did great on the pre-op diet! I hope that for both of us the scale moves soon!

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
