do you have a secret goal weight???

Recommended Posts

I do want to be healthy so I am aiming for 136lbs and that is what I tell everyone but I secretly would love to get to 126, I realize that is only 10lbs but when I tell people I want to get to 136lbs they all gasp and tell me I will blow away if I were that thin. I have even been told I look great at my size now and why do I want to still lose more weight.

I would like to get down to 130 lbs. I haven't told my surgeon or anyone else about this either. My surgeon's goal for me is 148 lbs, which is 3 lbs away from where I am at now, and I'm still fat. He has already marked me as a success story, but I don't feel successful because I have not reached goal yet. When I reach my goal, maybe I will feel successful.

I say this with every post of this type, but it amazes me that people think that normal weight is too thin. People must be very fat in general for us to have lost our focus on reality like this.

Normal BMI is 18 to 25. It is not anorexic or sick to have a BMI of 18 or 19, nor is fat to have one of 25. It depends on our body types, for me, a BMI is still pretty chunky and plump and I really COULD carry a BMI of under 20. I still have substantial flab at 21. Other people are more muscular and will be firmer and curvier at the same weight.

But I know what you mean, it seems that as weight loss patients, we're also "not allowed" to do TOO well. It seems to threaten people, and they have to say "oh, no, you'll be too thin then".

I do have a secret desire to be 10lb lighter myself. Just to trim off a few lumpy bits. But it seems to set off alarm bells in people, they think that wanting to lose weight from already being normal weight indicates an eating disorder.

I dont think it does - I dont think I'm fat, disgusting or overweight, just need to trim a little. I also never really get around to actually doing it! But yes, I do feel the need to keep this desire secret.

My surgeon's goal for me is 156... which is above a BMI of 25, so I set my own "official" goal of 150 (BMI of 25). Frankly, I could live the rest of my life at 165 and be mostly happy, but my secret goal weight is 140 or so. But I tend toward muscular, and will be happy (I think) at any normal weight. :smile2:

Question: If your surgeon sets a goal for you does that mean you can't get fills anymore after you reach that goal even if its not your personal goal?

Nope, my "secret" goal is right down below, in black and white.

My surgeon hasn't given me a goal--though the printouts that come with every weigh in have me around 128-ish.

My goal is lower--for a number of reasons.

I am open to revising it if I reach a weight where I'm comfortable sooner. But for reasons unrelated to appearance I really want to get as low as possible. (I have orthopedic stuff that really does benefit from weighing as little as healthily possible.)

I just wanna be THIN again- before, I stayed thin by smoking, and when I stopped smoking 20 years ago, I just blew right up. I was heavy during all my teens and early twenties, and took the weight off.

No secret goal weight for me. My goal is 150 and I am 5'7". That puts me in the normal BMI range and is a weight I felt good at in the past. My surgeon did not set a goal. In fact this past Friday was the first time we talked about what my goal weight was and I was the one who brought it up. He nodded his head in agreement when I was talking about getting to 150. When I reach that weight I will adjust my goal if I think I need to take off a few more.

my surgeon set a goal of 145 for me but i want to secretly be down to 120-125 because 145 is still in the overweight range on the BMI scale for my height (i am very short btw, 5'1")

I have a secret goal weight too.

I told one person what it was and got the "oh, that's too low" response, so I don't tell people anymore. Even though I have a number in mind, I have an image of what I want to look like and that is more important to me. I WANT to be FIT!!!!

Honestly, I have the same problem. Everyone asks how much more I need to lose and I say "20" (which would put me at 150) and they all say that is too much. Now, I'm 5 ft 1.5 in and I really should be aiming for less, but I have had my head set on 150. I may try to go to 140 if I am looking like I would still be healthy at that weight. At this point, I don't tell anyone either because I just don't want to hear it lol.

My "secret" goal weight is actually in the opposite direction. At my thinnest (at 19), I weighed 35 lbs more than my current goal weight. If I got down to the weight I was at 19, I just might stop there. Even though it is considered in the overweight BMI range.

I had a secret goal weight of 145 and reached it but I have a new secret goal weight but if I tell you, it'll not longer be a secret...well, okay...shhhhhh don't tell anyone...it's 135

No secret, Just want to get to 150lbs. But I do know what you mean about people saying things when you tell them your goal weight. Most friends tell me I'm fine now but I think they are just so use to how big I was that I seem to be normal to them now. I'm just looking to get to a normal BMI. I'm 5'6 and 150 would do it. I will tell you I lowed my original goal weight down from 160 because when I was big that seemed so small to me but when I got there I realized I still needed to lose weight.

I also wanted to mention that my doctor didn't set a goal weight for me, but it was understood that I should be a healthy BMI weight. On my previous visit with him, he told me not to lose a great deal more or get too thin as it will be difficult to maintain the weight. Good advice. He's really into being fit...as I'm sure they all are.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
