Did anyone else have a difficulty getting the time off that they needed? My job had 30 days notification that I was approved for my band on 4/22, yet they "were't able to schedule me off". I have emailed and requested 4/29 for my second date. Now I have to "wait and see". I am so close to having it done, that now this frustration is bringing out the inner temper tantrum, lol.

I am so ready to get to the first day of the rest of my life.

Did any of you have the run around from your job or were they supportive and helpful?

My job was pretty supportive-- but I teach classes at a YMCA, and had to find my own subsitutes for the time I needed off. But that isn't like a regular full-time job. Do they understand you are having surgery or do they think you are just going to be "out?"

You may have to be more assertive. What kind of job do you have? (if you don't mind sharing.)

That seems so wrong. I don't see how your job can deny you when you gave that much advance notice. Are you taking vacation or short term disability? Short term disability can deny you time off but shouldn't if you have a doctor's recommendation. I would check with your human resources to get this resolved. If you are entitled to time off they can't deny you forever and it is wrong to make you go through this.

Have you been on your job for 12 months? If so and if you have worked enough hours in that 12 months, about 24 a week, I think, you should qualify for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). This permits you to take off up to 12 weeks unpaid for something medically necessary. Your doctor has to fill out a form saying it is medically necessary and you can take off whatever your doctor says you need. A job is guaranteed when you come back. This is a Federal Law and everyone must follow it. You may have to give 30 days notice, but you have already done that.

Look up FMLA on the internet and see if you qualify. Don't give up!:bored:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
