Has anyone ever heard of a band shifting or turing on its side??

Ive been home from the hospital about 5 days. The first couple of days i would feel it and think man thats cool. And now it feels different and hurts. Like maybe i broke the stiches somehow and its turned on its side. When i feel the area where i felt a flat circle before is now just a bump and vertical instead of circular... I dont know if im just freaking for nothing or if sleeping on my side is gonna cost me another night in the hospital =( PLEASE HELP

I had the same thing happen to me about 5 days post op! I stretched, reaching for something and had this sharp pain, like I pulled the stitches or shifted the port.

I've read a thread about somebody whose port had twisted. I'm worried right along with you. I guess we won't know until our first fill! Yikes!

Good luck to us!

or

Maybe we're just being paranoid? Don't know.

I've felt my port wiggle around a bit---but the good news is that its position is just fine, and doesn't interfere with fill-ability at all.

I think it's normal to feel all kinds of odd sensations as we heal. Our ports take a while to become nicely seated in the muscle, and there is a bit of movement. Most of the time, it's nothing to be worried about.

If you are worried, by all means give your doctor a call.

Wow...I am having the same experience. My port site has been sore since surgery 3-24, but getting less sore by the day. Friday, I felt so good that I rode my bike and walked a lot. I also bent over a few times to pick things up. Yesterday, (SAT) I was having port pain but it felt "different" from the pain I had been having....I called surgeon and she said probably over did it and most likely nothing is wrong. She said if my port moves around, I could have popped a stitch, but I have felt it and it does not move. She also said to ice the area every hour or so for 10 minutes. I will know for sure when I go see her Tuesday for first post op appointment but more than likely, its fine!

I AM PRAYING IT IS.....:bored:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
