Any May 2010 Bandsters?

@ Mel Mel - Wow! That was a bit insensitive. I remember back in January when I had my bloodtests before my initial appointment with the surgeon, the lady who took my bloods asked how long post-op I was 'cause the request form had the clinic info on it. I told her I hadn't had the surgery yet and she gave me such a look (and that was 20-odd kgs ago). D:

I think height also has a lot to do with it. 'Cause the taller you are the more weight you can carry before you look your weight. I think.

Whee! I think I just felt my first hunger pang. Or maybe it was gas. But I can definitely feel my stomach now! The numbness was eerie. ^___^

I'm only 5'0" but the hospital gown was huge on me. It was dragging on the floor as I'm flashing everyone in the front! LOL.

It is funny, many of us carry our weight well. I don't think anyone would have imagined I was morbidly obese....but I was and needed this surgery.

SEXXEH.

Speaking of gowns, I felt slightly guilty when I was shown the changing room. There were about 8 [gowns] on the rack, smallest to biggest. I picked up the smallest one and it was huge on me. And I put it on the wrong way. Somehow. There were buttons everywhere. u__u

Hey yall- I had my surgery Friday, and I can finally sit in front of the computer without it hurting me )

Everything went smooth, but when I woke up, my mouth was so dry I wanted to vomit. The nurse gave me some ice chips, but that really didn't help any, and after about 4, I felt too ful to have any more.

Gas pains have been my biggest obstical. They flippin SUCK! Lol-

I weighed this morning, and I'm down to 228 (from 240 last Thursday) Not bad huh? Woke up this morning with my first hunger pains. Either that, or I needed Water.

Is anyone else having a hard time getting their bladder to empty? I have to sit there and fight mine. Never had this problem with any other surgery, so I dunno :smile2:/

Anyhoo- Hope everyone else is doing well!

Yes at first it hurt and even though i had to go it took a little while to finish. I felt the same way with my mouth being dry. i couldn't walk unless i had an ice chip. but i got through it. the pain is alot better but i'm still taking pain medicine.

Hi, gang. Banded May 6th by Keith McEwan in Noblesville, Indiana. Pre-liquid diet weight was 275, pre-op was 254. 9 days in I'm at 243.

Once I got home, the worst pain I had was from a reaction in two spots to the gauze adhesive. I have hardly felt the incisions themselves.

Frankly, I haven't had any desire to eat in almost three weeks. Cheating is down to a spoon of Peanut Butter, and it's all I can do to gag down the Protein Shakes - I can see that's going to be an ongoing problem.

Taking pills is an ongoing challenge as well. I have to take several blood pressure meds, and swallowing the pills almost always causes a painful hiccup episode. I've tried morning, evening, tilting my head to straighten the esophagus, taking a sip of soda water—nothing seems to solve it, and I'm concerned that this will get worse after the fills start.

Started pureed food yesterday with a Dinty Moore Beef Stew run through the blender. Sort of like a pot roast milk shake. Yeah, it was great.

Yeah, it was great.

Man- That sounds delish :)) Sounds like you're doing awesome- 32 pounds lighter!! Do you feel any different yet?

Hopefully, you won't have to worry about taking BP pills for much longer- Loosing weight should get rid of that issue~ Sure hope it does for mine!! The Protein Shakes are nasty, but, to me, they are better if I mix them with Milk- I hear the "Elvis shake" is really good- I haven't tried it myself- You mix vanilla Protein Shake with yogurt, honey, Peanut Butter, half of a banana, milk, and ice- Blend it up, and it's SUPPOSED to be awesome- I don't know the exact measurements, but I can find them for you if you want-

Good luck with your new life- Keep us posted!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one- I was starting to worry! I had to take a pain pill walla go- I wasn't hurting really, but where my port is felt like it was pulling- I think maybe I over did it walking, so I'm going to slow it down a bit.

I know they say the first month is about healing, not losing weight, but I am SO ready to get started exercising! Still gonna walk, just not up hill like I did today (It was a small hill, but still)

Ugg so I felt so good the past 2 days, and today I woke up feeling icky. Really tired, and a bit light headed. Trying to make sure I get my fluids in today. I also had a bit of diarrhea today. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
