Depends on a lot of things....Genes have a huge impact, how heavy you were, how long you were heavy, your age, etc. Someone who is young and has only been overweight by 75 pounds for a year or two has a better chance of not having loose skin than someone who is say, in their 50's and has been 150 pounds overweight for 30 years....the elasticity can only last so long before it just gives out (kinda like over stretched underwear).

Good luck!

This is a question I have too. I was banded on March 18th and I had my regular yearly checkup with my own Dr. last week, and she mentioned that after losing all the weight I might need some plastic surgery that she thought would be covered by my insurance. Is that possible??? Does insurance cover a Tummy Tuck? ? God that would be AWESOME!!! Does anyone have any experience with this?

Insurances differ on their criteria so you will need to check yours

I know from attending support meetings that most don't cover it if cosmetic only but some do

If you get rashes or yeast infections in your skin folds, start telling your health care provider now and refilling the medication ordered

Some pay if your skin hangs down below your sex organs etc.

Having a hernia also helps

:bored:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
