ainnjay 1 Posted April 3, 2010 Greetings!!! I am on my 3rd month of supervised dieting and have been thinking Lap Band is the way to go. Lately, however, I have been wondering if Lap Band or Roux en Y is the way to go? The stats say Roux en Y give better results....seems if I were to "screw up on my diet" it would still enable me to lose weight. Question - Am I just looking for the easy way out? Does the Lap Band really help you guys not eat as much and therefore lose weight? Seems I have heard so many people say they are not losing with the band...just want to make sure I make the right decision. Honestly....I've practically given up on dieting. So I'm wondering if I have what it takes to follow the rules of the band. I just don't want this to be another failed effort, ya know? Please let me know your thoughts. I appreciate it!! Ang Any thoughts?
123crod 170 Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) I think that if you go into this knowing all the facts and be willing to follow the rules. You should do good with the band. It takes being able to say to yourself I can do this and no emotional eating or headhunger is going to stop me. If you are a emotional eater reads some books or get some counseling, because you are losing your friend (food) you will have to find another way to comfort yourself. I know some people fail at this some I think they do not really follow the rules all the . . . and for some the band just does not work for them. Not sure why. I have had no problems with the band and I am 8 months out. I have gone from 251 to 190 right now. It has been easy for the most part, but I was an emotional eater so I have struggle with losing my friend that comforted me. But it was the best choice for me and I am glad I did it Cheri Talk to people who have had both surgerys and then make your choice. Hope that helps. ainnjay 1 Posted April 3, 2010 Cheri - Thanks so much for your reply!! It really helps to hear from people that have had emotional eating and are doing okay with the band. Thanks again!! Angie
LeighaMason 19 Posted April 4, 2010 You can eat around any surgery, so don't pick on over the other if you aren't going to follow that surgery's rules. Having said that, if you are willing to make a commitment to picking the right food and only eating 3 meals and 2 Snacks, the band will help you with the portions. Good luck.
