Do you sweat less?

Recommended Posts

I am just starting my 3 month diet before I am banded. I have been dreaming about how it will feel when I get to my goal weight. One of the things I hate about being big is the heat! I sweat all the dang time. Its actually embarrasing sometimes bc everyone else is comfortable and I am sweating.

For those of you who have lost weight, do you feel cooler?

Definitely - I never had a sweating problem when I was heavier and I was never so warm that it appeared I was warmer than everyone around me. But I definitely went through a period of about a year when I was freezing all the time, then appeared to adjust and now I'm just one of those thin people who always seems to need a cardi or jacket, lol. I do tend to wear more clothes than I did.

And i love the hot weather! Always did but now I really adore it. It cant get too hot for me, which given its ofen 115 in Melbourne in the summer is a good thing!

I'm glad you brought this up! I also sweat very heavily, mostly on my head, face and neck. It took me MONTHS to convince my personal trainer I wasn't about to pass out!

I am pre-band and I did ask my PCP about this. She said there is a good chance the sweating thing is genetic and completely non- weight related. That, along with the news from my surgeon that my high blood pressure is likely genetic and won't improve much with weight loss were two big bummers.

I'm secretly hoping they are BOTH wrong!!! Looking forward to hearing responses from others.

The last 2 days it was in the low 80s where I live. Normally I dont like heat but it was very comfortable. My wife laughs because I seem to get cold more than I used too. Ive lost 37# in the month Ive been banded and already notice a difference also in alot of other ways.

I have noticed the flip side more often. I am cold far more often then ever before. I know in the past when I lost weight, I sweat less.

I used to like the cold and dread the heat but that has just about done a complete 180 now!

Oh yes Yes YES! It is amazing the difference, I am 1 year out down 50/lbs, and have been working out for 9 months. I do not sweat a 10th of what I did in the past. Yea I sweat at the gym but you are suppose to. Yeasterday was doind some planting 90+ deg. and did not really sweat a bit. Was not hard planting just few plants but really do not sweat much at all now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
