pennrob 0 Posted April 2, 2010 Hi everyone my name is Rob  I just made the call for my Info night down at lehigh valley hospital in allentown. I went to my doctor this week and she did a BMI on me. I am 6-4, 466lbs right now with a bmi of 57.5!! I was shocked. she told me that I had almost 90 lbs of muscle and my ideal weight would be 265. That seems like a little on the big side still hehe. about 7 years ago I looked into the surgery...where they cut the intestine..roun-x-y or something like that but decided I wasnt keen on re-routing the plumbing!! so now im back bigger than ever and a little bummed out. but im taking the first step to finally making a change!! with better insurance this time to!! hehe "BCBS mass" hoping for the best! im looking forward to posting some positive results!!
AnneGG 0 Posted April 2, 2010 Welcome to the board, Rob- it's a good, supportive and kick-ass place to be! Like you, I didn't want to do anything permanent to my insides, hence my choosing the lap-band. Good luck and perseverance in your journey!

ShrinkingvioletinPA 0 Posted April 8, 2010 Hey Rob ~ We are from the same area. I live in the Lehigh Valley and attended my seminar at St. Luke's in Allentown last night. Maybe we can share this journey together. I'd love to have a partner in crime! Are you considering the lap band or gastric? Denise

ShrinkingvioletinPA 0 Posted April 9, 2010 We were at the hospital seminar information session at the same time. I am the one who came in late. LOL Is your wife supportive of your surgery? My husband was dead set against it a few years ago when I was looking into it but at that time it was more for vanity reasons on my part. Now that I am in my 40's (early 40's), it's more of a health concern. My appointment is May 6. Please do keep me in the loop. Denise
Spartan 4 Posted April 9, 2010 Hi denise, How did it go? I was at lehigh valley hospital wednesday night to for my info night. Im going to go with the LAP-BAND®. Im not to keen on the cutting for the bypass. I am just waiting for the bariatrician to call and set up my appointment. PennRob; Don't rule out the Gastric Bypass because it makes you a bit uncomfortable. It might be the ideal surgery for your particular circumstances. Look at ALL your options with an open mind. People make the Lap band seem a lot easier, and it is not. And, it is possible that you might do better with another surgery. I am suggesting that you not rule ANYTHING out until you have studied all of them in detail, and spoken to an Experienced Bariatric Specialist. Good Luck with whatever you decide! S. sherrypep 91 Posted June 6, 2011 Hi Rob, I started my lapband journey in April. I am on the three month program and have seen the PA, the Psychologist, and the dietician. I live in the Poconos in Stroudsburg so it is a hike but after researching it seems like they have a really good program at LVH with lots of support. I am excited and hope to have my band in August if all goes well. Good luck! I just made the call for my Info night down at lehigh valley hospital in allentown.
