I had my surgery March 11 so I about 3 week post op. I just started my spring term after a 2 1/2 week break. I feel exhausted all the time. I have been sleeping 12+ hours for the last few days. All the muscles ache in my body. I am barely limping to school. I have not been in this much pain since i woke up in the recovery unit. Is this normal?

I just think its your body healing from surgery, everyone heals differently and maybe you went back to school or work to soon. Also, the exhaustion is because you are not eating the same anymore so its only natural that you will feel that way, but you should trying taking the chewable Multi Vitamins and Calcium. It took me about 4 weeks to go back to school and work because I was in alot of pain, but I do have a low tolerance for pain. Just try to take it easy and don't over do it, your body needs time to heal and adjust to the band. But if you notice any changes to your wounds/ incisions, then you should talk to your doctor incase of an infection. Good luck!

I was going to start a thread about this today and then I saw yours! I too am exhausted. I keep thinking I'm just being lazy but I'm so tired. I was banded on 3/10, just one day before you.

I just had company from out-of-town last week. I worked so hard cooking and entertaining. When they left I spent the next day in my pajamas feeling completely used up.

My husband thinks that I'm not getting enough nourishment. But I'm following the diet plan to the T and taking all my Vitamins, etc.

I too am so exhausted. When will the energy return?

I think a lot of people go through this after surgery. For a good month I had to push myself along. Make sure you are taking your Vitamins and getting enough of the right foods, but if this doesnt subside call you doc. Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
