BIGMAN 0 Posted November 11, 2005 I just had my surgery on the 7th of this month (Nov.) and I was wondering when could I get on the tredmill and do some cardio to speed up the process of lossing weight?
It's me-Debbydo 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Take life slllloooowwww. The process is just that a process. Check with your md but my md said I could start walking for exercise (not the casual stroll) after a few weeks. But I was told no crazy heart rate workouts for 6 weeks. You just had major surgery. The body needs time to heal.
PinkMary 3 Posted November 11, 2005 i think you can start walkin on traidmill but do not over do it! start with 30 min/day normal walking... it does help for sure to speed up your weight loss
NJChick 3 Posted November 11, 2005 Yeah you don't wanna rip your innards. Be very careful. Call and ask your doctor. I'm not allowed any exercise for a least 6 weeks after surgery. Heal first then worry about the wl.
Butterfly07 0 Posted November 11, 2005 My doc had me wait 4 weeks and then only treadmill slowly and as tolerated, I can't lift weights or take aerobics classes until 8 weeks out (I am 6 weeks out now). The first time I got on the treadmill I walked at almost no incline and a comfortable walking pace for about 15 min, then built it up gradually over the next few weeks. Remember that your stamina is lower after surgery and it will rebuild as you continue each day but be careful not to over-do. I now can do exactly as I did pre-op as far as incline, speed and duration. Good luck and remember that WATER!
Ohtobethin 0 Posted November 11, 2005 I just had my 2 week post op Dr. appointment and he told me walking at a regular pace for 20-30 minutes is all for now. He said to wait 2 more weeks for cardio and 6 weeks for any weight related exercises. So take it easy for now.
