BIGMAN 0 Posted November 11, 2005 I just had my surgery on the 7th of this month (Nov.) and I was wondering when could I get on the tredmill and do some cardio exercise to help speed up the process of weight loss?
Tricia K. 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Walking on the treadmill is fine for now but I would wait 4-6 weeks before doing any jogging/running. You'll need that time to heal properly.
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted November 11, 2005 Yup. That's what my doc said. No running but walking on the treadmill is fine. I was on my treadmill about five days post surgery. I needed that energy boost that only working out can bring.
Clementine 0 Posted November 11, 2005 My pre-surgery gift to myself was a new ipod (my first!) to help make exercise "fun". I took it for a spin in my walkin' shoes about six days after surgery. I was able to walk at a good clip, and it felt great! My doc says six weeks before any strenuous exercise. I'd be careful of the inclines on a treadmill...don't put too much pressure on your stomach too soon. But as long as you take it easy, I say it's never too early to start a good habit! Jachut 487 Posted November 11, 2005 Just out of interest on this topic, I just bought this to use on the elliptical machine at the gym, so I dont fall asleep and actually fall off the machine; http://www.cardiocoach.com/home.php It is absolutely awesome! Really motivating and makes it FUN. I love the treadmill but cant use it because it aggravates may achilles tendon.
