Pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I get on the scale several times a day. It is just my personality's need. I get on first thing in the morning, late at night, and after the gym. My usual pattern is to weight the most at night, less (as much as 2 pounds) when I get up, and even less after the gym (another 2 pounds, and I go to the gym at 6 am).

I also see that my weight is affected by sodium and have seen 9 pounds swings between after gym weight and bedtime in the same day. Why? Cause if I eat salty stuff and drink all my Water, I retain it.

I also take a BP pill that is a diuretic. If I miss it, my weight rises.

My trend is based on weeks not days or hours. I watch the trend. What I do is record the lowest weight I see during the day (my psycological need) and periodically see what I have lost in a week, month and since I started.

I have averaged 3.14 lbs per week loss. I see I am plateauing a little as March was only a 6 lb loss and Feb was 12 pounds. Maybe because I did less exercise.

What I won't do, is agonize over what the scale says. EVER. I have too many NSV's to be pissed off when that happens. I am down 10 inches in pants size. I fit in a coach airplane seat without a seat belt extender. I can go on amusement park rides. I fit on my riding lawnmower without my stomach hitting the steering wheel. Those things make me far happier than the scale.

I just finished Soup and tuna for lunch. I do that often. If it affects the scale, so what. It was only about 400 calories and 12 g of Protein.

You lost 50 pounds. You have to feel it. Celebrate. Don't agonize.

See you in 50 more pounds!!!

TJ

TJ-- what a great outlook you have!!!!

What makes you think you did anything wrong? You didn't.

The scale doesn't give the whole story. As a daily weigher, you surely have seen fluctuations before. Why is this one bothering you more than the others? Because it pushed you back over your milestone?

That gain is not "real." You've lost 50 pounds. Chances are the 2 pounds will be gone tomorrow---perhaps with another pound for good measure.

Deep breaths. You're doing great. Don't let what a less-than-accurate piece of machinery tells you dictate your outlook for the day.

Maybe you just need to change your frame of mind about the scale. I decided early on in this journey that once I hit a lower number than I'd seen before on the scale, then I would 'claim it'. By that, I mean I update my ticker, my blog, and that is the number I tell people when they ask me how much I lost.

If I see a higher number come up later, I don't 'claim it'... don't update my ticker, my blog, etc. I just tell myself it is a fluctuation (because it is). I have no reason to believe that w/this band any weight gain is going to become a trend. Now, maybe if it kept going up, I'd have to change my way of thinking. But, so far, every little up has only stayed a little up for a short time.

Hang in there! You are doing awesome!!! :->

This is how I do it too! I might weigh more than once a day but only the first session in the morning "counts", I get on and off the scale 3 times (I get to use the lowest number), if my weight is up by 3 pounds or less I dismiss it as Water weight (which doesn't count), knowing it will be gone in a day or two.

Plus I think this Water weight is somehow tied to losing, maybe it flushes out the fat? I usually get to a number, say 155 then I will be that for a day or two, then it goes up a pound or two, then goes down a pound a day for 2 or 3 days in a row and I end up at 154 or 153. Thats how my body does it, I am never the same number 2 days in a row. I hope this helps you feel better.

Im here to vent because I know what you all are going to say !!

I finally hit 50lbs gone monday morning - was estatic,, happy,, felt like i was moving on forward..

today I am up 2!! WTH!

Cant say i know why - no idea what im doing wrong,, could possibly need a fill but im onthe edge where a fill could be too much..

is it the salt from the btl i had for dinner?

today i am really wishing i had bipass.

Congrats on hitting 50 pounds!! That's awesome, I'm yet to hit that! I feel like I'm stuck and I fluctuate like mad. I'm told by a few friends who have had the lapband not to weight myself everyday, not to stress, not to worry, yada, yada, yada...........Yeah, still PISSED! I'm trying to just go with the flow, but I think once we lose that much, we expect the rest to just keep falling off!:frown:

girlfriend you are doing great!@!!! i can tell you i got on the scale the other night and weight 281 and the next morning i was 278. so it could be time of the day or any of the other feminine crap that plays a part in a womans weight. its very encouraging and exciting to see a loss on the scale, but if you are following the program dont allow the scale to discourage you. in the long run you will acheive total sucess.

You really need to stay off the scale. I try not to weigh myself more than once per week. When I do it is always as soon as I wake up in the morning. I find that that is the time of day that I am the "lightest"... if that makes sense. Our body weight tends to fluctuate throughout the day depending on your food intake, water/liquid intake, sodium intake etc....So pick one day a week to weigh-in and do it first thing in the morning. I bet you see a difference.

Keep your head up

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
