I was banded on Feb 16th and I go in for my first fill today 3-30-10. I am a bit nervous because there have been a few times that I lose control and overeat. sometimes my stomach will hurt and i'll have to lay down until it passes and other times the pain is just there. I've noticed however, that most of the time I can eat more than 4 ounces..is this normal? I really hope that I havent stretched my stomach or that i haven't done anything to the band and that the fill will restrict me.

It is very normal to be able to eat more than four ounces before you achieve restriction. You did not likely stretch your pouch.

OTOH, overeating to the point of discomfort is NOT a good idea and can, over time, do just that.

Good luck with your fill. I don't mean to discourage, but often the first is just a stepping stone, without much discernible difference in hunger. Yours may be different--but either way, know that it DOES get better.

I can totally relate!!! I was also banded on Feb 16th and just went in for my first fill yesterday (March 29th).

I have had really slow weight loss (only 2 pounds! since weigh in on surgery day:cursing:) and was able to eat significantly more then 4 oz in one sitting. I hope this fill does the trick! but to be honest i don't really feel any significant change in restriction today....i just ate a cheese stick and nothing...i guess we will see how lunch goes today. He filled me pretty aggressivly (i think?) 4.5 cc and I will be sad if I continue to not lose weight and be hungry...super frustrating! and even kinda of embarassing since everyone i know knows that i had this surgery and i haven't had any signficant weight loss....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
