Americans Need Universal Auto Insurance

Recommended Posts

For far too long, automobile insurance carriers have been preying on the wallets and transportational health of the American people. Year after year, drivers in this country pay thousands of dollars to insure themselves against accidents, dings and dents, and personal injuries. We are statutorly mandated to have coverage in order to legally operate a vehicle, but the government does nothing to control costs and make insurance affordable.

We pay higher premiums for being too young or too old.

We pay higher premiums for the cars that we choose to drive.

We pay higher premiums for the misfortune of getting nabbed speeding or running a red light.

And some even lose their insurance all together merely for being reckless or negligent behind the wheel.

Poor people are forced to under-insure with places like Safe-Auto or The General that do not provide collision insurance and run the risk of bankruptcy if they are involved in a collision that they caused.

People with bad driving records are gouged by predatory carriers like Progressive, who charge high monthly rates to provide astronomically high deductables, and in the end don't pay out a dime to fix or replace a vehcile after another unfortunate accident.

And what about the millions of uninsured in this country? They are forced to take public transportation, ride a bike, or *gasp* walk to where they want to go just because they cannot afford the cost of insuring their vehicle. Sure, they can find a clunker for $500 on Craigs List, but what carrier will insure them for a reasonable monthly premium? These people are denied their constitutional right to transportation and no one bats an eye.

All the while, these wealthy wall-street bankers with clean driving records and expensive cars enjoy their full tort options and gap insurance when they could afford to buy a new car if theirs got dinged in a fender bender.

It has become clear that the time has come for change in this country. For far too long, the pampered few with no moving violations and no accidents have benefited from the toils of the terminally lead-footed and accident prone. Every man, woman, and child (over the age of 16) in this great society are entitled to low-cost, government subsidized, and government managed automobile insurance. Let not another day pass without Dear Leader tackling the promise of Universal Car Insurance for all Americans.

Great!! As soon as they mandate that I buy a car or have a drivers license. Or have a license but not buy a car...ugh I can't think since this question and explanation just dropped my IQ points. Dumb premise, dumb argument, but your good at being funny like Fake Noise.

So when they mandate that I go to the doctor, then, healthcare reform will make sense? Is that what your saying?

I thought the thread said mandated auto insurance? Please post health care information in the health care thread. Back to auto mandated insurance, stated in previous thread, dumb straw man argument. Not everyone can drive because of vision, age, physical capacity and mental capacity. Since those factors and a few others exist in this society, there won't be a mandate. Not to mention as I stated before, you can't make people get a car or get a license for a car they don't have nor make handicap people capable to drive or children drive or people to old to drive, no mandate. What else?

It's an internet forum, I'll say what I want where I want. The OP was obviously facetious. And you were drawn out perfectly by it. Saying if the government mandates you do something then it's a good idea. So why would me saying the same thing about healthcare be wrong? I wanted a thread not over ran with CM's red lettering and bjrem and leghamusin, all over her coattails. So here it is, for now.

You can't make someone go to a doctor or to a hospital er, or get a surgery, so why is there a mandate on it? Your giving examples that can just as easily be given right back to you on the healthcare debate. And you think they're ok for healthcare, but not for auto ins. which I don't want either.

My question...why didn't you name it new health care thread? Any hoo, who said mandated stuff is always a good thing? Nobody said that, I said mandated auto insurance is not logical nor likely to happen because of reasons stated above. Come on.....

Because I didn't want to name it that. I don't think anyone said mandated stuff is always good. However the democrats of this country like things to be mandated for them. They like handouts for people and don't seem to care much for personal responsibility. IMO and the opinions of millions of other, mandated health insurance is not logical either.

Yup I noticed, you know how to be obnoxious online, good for you. It doesn't make you stance and ideals any more right, in fact it kind of makes them stand out like a stop light, screaming STOP. You want entitlements for everyone, I know, those sad poor people who corporate America and George W Bush hate, and you and obama love. They should all have what ever they want, I mean free stuff is their pursuit of happiness right, thats what the constitution says, life, liberty and pursuit of happiness via government entitlement programs for people who are either to lazy or unfortunate enough to not have things. I got it, thank you.

If you want to have a discussion, then great but don't make up bullshit threads uder the guise of something else. Even the idiot teabaggers would say your premise is dumb. No sense in talking about this dumb subject with a straight face since you obviously don't get why there will be no such thing as mandated car insurance for the blind. Insurance for the blind? Are you serious? I'm going to do like your idiot leader and say "hell no".

The only one not getting something is you. Facetious. Look it up. The premise of mandated auto ins. is just as ridiculous as mandated health ins. which would be the point of the thread. Obviously over your head. And please tell me; who is my leader? I'm gonna go ahead and say you have no idea, because you don't know what my political stance is.

So you find the color red obnoxious or is it the content? Because I feel the same way about your posts. You support corporate welfare and stand with wall street. You oppose welfare for the least among us and stand against main street.

You, like PG, paint all of those who receive any kind of assistance with one brush (something she hates when she claims we do it with the tea partiers) - they are all slack-ass, lazy bums who would rather live off government assistance than get a job.

If you look at who receives government aid you will see that many are single moms, the elderly, the disabled. But hey, let's just eliminate all aid, throw them out on the street and maybe die, because like PG said - lots of people die for all kinds of reason we can't control. We could just call them collateral damage in a capitalistic country.

Where did I say eliminate all aid? Where did I say every single person on government assistance is a "slack-ass, lazy bum"? You say this over and over about me, and pattygreen, I don't read all she has wrote on here, nor do I support everything I have read of hers, but for you to decide that because I agree with her on somethings mean I agree with her on everything, or that I feel a certain way which I've never stated I feel nor do I feel, is quite juvenile, and frankly I'd expect more from such an educated person. I've stated how I feel about government "assistance" on these boards before, I'll do it again for the daft:

Assistance should be just that. To help you out of a ruff time, once that time is over, you need to get off the welfare or whatever your on and get on with your life without gov't handouts. Senior citizens are a little different, they paid into SS and m-care throughout their lives, so while I don't feel the government should be in charge of these programs as they've ran them into the dirt. I don't want to take the old off of them as many of them have no way to create any income on their own, or anyway to pay for ins. Partly this is their fault for not investing and saving better throughout their lives. But that is neither here nor there. The baby making machines on welfare that I see on a daily basis are the ones I'm talking about, or the ones that go to POS doctors who put them on permanent disability for bs reason's and then mooch of the system for 40 or 50 years. The ones who are born poor and do nothing about it but continue the cycle and blame the system for their misfortune. These and those like them are the lazy bums who need to get out and be productive members of society and should receive no aid from anyone, they should be left to fail. This country was built and brought to greatness by the people of it, who worked hard, and did not make excuses, and made the best of every situation presented to them. They did not expect government assistance because it wasn't there. And they did not cry out about why the government wasn't there to help them, because they understood the governments place, and job, and it was not then, nor is it now their job to give handouts to people. I am okay with the occasional hand up but not for hand outs.

They both are idiotic if we both agree and we don't. Unfortunately for you healthcare is a reality. Go into the Water and suck it up. No, don't struggle, the event will be much harder later on. Rail against it all you want. I can say with certainty that health care is here to stay. Mandated auto insurance...ugg, lets wait and see. I can wait to say I told you so. Insurance for the blind. Fake Noise funny.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
