Hello, was just wondering if anyone had an increase on the scale when you started full liquids. I had been losing around a pound a day until I added soup....will it even out and I start losing again? Still only consuming around 600 cals a day. Surgery was March 19th. Thanks for your input.

Hi,

Well I was banded on March 10th and I tried not to weigh myself until my 10 day follow up because of the medications/changes. At my doctor's appointment I found out that I had lost 14 pounds since my surgery. Then today 6 days after my appointment I got on the scale and it said I gained 5 pounds! I've been eating about 600 cals/day so I'm in the same boat. Our bodies just need to adjust and hopefully it will even out over time!

I am sure it will, but it was nice seeing the scale move down every morning when I got on it. Oh well, I am still excited and feel better and more energetic everyday:thumbup:.

If you expect to keep losing a pound a day, you will be very disappointed. A pound a week is what I expect, and it is what I get most of the time. In the beginning, though we do lose a ton of Water and we get excited because we think it is going to keep going. It never does and we should actually know this after hundreds of attempts at losing weight over the years. Yes Soups can cause weight gain because of the salt, depending on how salt sensitive you are. Don't forget to drink all of your water every day. Hugs to all!!!!

Do not get me wrong, I never expected to keep losing a pound a day, maybe I was not very clear on my post. I have been on many, many diets over the years and know how it works. Was just surprised to see the scale go up 2 pounds over night but should not have gotten alarmed, I pushed my water and it went back down:thumbup:. My concern was that I was still doing full liquids and had forgotten briefly how my body holds on to water but it is making mindful of my sodium intake.

When you go through the different phases of food you may lose weight you may even gain a couple of pounds. Don't be afraid to move up in the phases. Your body is still also healing. And it's also going through it's starvation mode. You will even out soon and you will start losing. Sometimes you will hit a plateau also. Don't be discouraged. Also this is not a diet. This is a lifestyle change. Diets fail. If you drink your 64oz of fluids a day and increase your exercise you will lose the weight. Start out slow by walking. There are also many exercises that you can do in a chair if you aren't able to walk around, that will raise your heart rate.

You also want to watch the Soups as someone state, they are loaded with sodium. They do have low sodium soups.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
