Funny bump

Recommended Posts

It's been almost 2 weeks since I've been banded. I've been healing pretty well, but I'm concerned about a funny bump on my abdomen. It's not the port - I can feel that. It's another area to the left of it. Is the band? Are you supposed to feel the band through your skin? I am going to the doctor tomorrow to see about it. Did it slip? Can anyone who has had a slipped band tell me if this is a sign? It's not really painful unless I press on it. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Jane does your funny bump look anything like this picture? If so then go to your surgeon and discuss this issue. My port had tilted and the bump you see is tubing trying to find an exit. Thank goodness my US surgeon knew the problem and corrected it with a port revision. If the tubing pokes through then that is a whole other set of concerns and issues.

I'm thinking i have the same issue as you. I have sort of a knot under the skin by my "bigger" incision on the left side. Its not the port incision. It almost feels like the muscle has bunched up or hardened in that area. Weird. It doesnt really hurt, but if i sleep on my left side for too long its sore in the morning. I dont think its the band because the band is more up towards the middle of your belly. Could just be sore muscles or healing muscles I'm thinking.

Let me know what you find out!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
