Dallas area surgeon that will accept already banded patients?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone in the Dallas has a surgeon who you know of that is willing to take on patients who are already banded. I need to have my band removed and the people at my original surgeon's office are not willing to help me. The surgeon said he would remove my band but he was not very nice about it and now they will not return any of my phone calls or emails regarding insurance/surgery scheduling, etc. I live over an hour away so I can't just go by there and besides that, if they are not willing to help me then I would just rather find a new surgeon rather than fight with someone who doesn't want to deal with me. I don't like the idea of my life being in someone's hands when that person and his entire staff have made it clear they do not want to deal with any patients after the surgery is over and they have gotten their money. Thanks.

I used Dr. Adam Smith, with www.fortworthlapband.com, and he's been great. I'm not sure if he does revisions, though.

I have a friend that's a part owner of a bariatric practice, and her ex-husband is the surgeon. He's specializes in revisions, and they are great. I didn't use them because of scheduling issues. Dr. Kim Bariatric Weight Loss LAP-BAND System Gastric Bypass Surgery Arlington Dallas Fort Worth (Ft. Worth) Texas (TX)

If you call them, and you end up talking to Jane, feel free to tell her that Chris Cloud sent you.

Dr Kim is definitely worth checking out. He did my band and a few other regular posters here. He is very upbeat as are everybody in his office.

His office is in Colleyville.

My surgeon is located at UT-Southwestern. The hospital is recognized as a Bariatric Center for Excellence, which means they meet certain criteria in order to perform Bariatric Surgery. Although I have not been banded (hoping for July/August), I recommend using Dr. Daniel Scott. He and his staff are wonderful. They are professional, quick in responding to you and extremely knowledgeable. If get in with Dr. Scott, they have a team of about 7 Bariatric Surgeon so hopefully one of them can help you.

Below is the phone number

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
