Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I can get your guys opinion on this....I had surgery on March 2nd...so coming up on 3 weeks now...and I've hardly lost any weight...maybe 5-6 pounds max...At times i do feel restricted and can hardly eat much...and other times, I can eat jsut as much...but I do know that my overall food intake is less...I can tell the difference...I go for my first tightening in a week and I hope it will help..Im just a little upset I havent lost more..I started off at 200 pounds on the day of surgery..and right now im like 194!!!...has this happened to anyone else??!!!

thanx

Normal for some, It jsut depends on your body and mind.

We were banded the same day and now we weigh the same.. Except I started at 213 Surgery day...

This is your recovery time. Don't worry about losing weight. It's not uncommon for people to gain weight during recovery. Don't stress. The first thing my doctor told me was: Don't compare your weight loss to anyone else. Everyone goes at their own speed. Good luck you will be just fine- I promise.:tt1:

I was also banded around the same day. I started off heavier then you though so I had more to loose. So far I am down to 218 from 236. Also it would depend on your post op diet. I don't get a fill until week 6 and my diet advances each week. Clear Liquids, full liquids, soft foods, soft meat, veggies and fruit, red meat and breads. Since I am now on solids and meat I am no longer lopsing as quickly. I also do not have restriction yet, but do eat less then pre-op. I wouldnt worry too much because you are not really able to use the band until you have some fills to get restriction. Just keep making good food choices :tt1:

You really should not worry at ALL about it.

As others here have said, the Lap Band experience is SO individual, and the rate at which people lose varies to an incredible degree. Someone in another thread told how they had lost 30 pounds in the FIRST WEEK, which is very unusual, but goes to show how different the immediate results can be for everyone.

There are people who lose nothing at all for the first few weeks, and some even gain a few pounds. And, there are many who take months to reach what they like to call the "sweet spot", which is the point of restriction where they begin to lose on a consistent basis.

So, the worst thing you can do at this point in time is to compare yourself with others. You will lose faster than some, slower than others. The most IMPORTANT thing you can do is to stick to the protocol that your surgeon and his/her team has laid out for you, be patient, and understand that this is not an "event", but the beginning of a process that may, in fact, take some time. But be diligent about it, and you WILL get there.

S.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
