How many fills did it take for you to notice a difference?

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill a week ago and really cant tell a difference in how often I am getting hungry. I eat 4 oz. of food at a time and am getting hungry right at 2.5-3 hours later. My doc says ideally it should be atleast 4. Well...I am HUNGRY people! Lol! So how many fills did it take you to get to your "sweet spot"?

Ihad my 3rd fill in February, was banded in Oct. This last one really helped a lot. I am not really hungry. I want things that I shouldn't, but it really curbed the hunger.

I also had my first fill a week ago today. I have not noticed any difference. I haven't really timed how soon I get hungry but boy when I am hungry my stomach is growling and grumbling more then I ever remember. :tt1:

i haven't had any fills yet but i'm in the same boat.i can eat about 3 to 4oz and then about two and half to three hours later i start feeling hungry again. does this mean i'll be ready for a fill when i can get one? my doc doesn't do fills until at least 6 weeks out and i'm only two weeks out so far.

You will probably be "ready" for a fill long before the 6 weeks is up. You will get more and more hungry, but don't worry about it as now is time for healing and you will have lots of time for losing once you start getting fills. Follow your prescribed diet and don't let yourself get too hungry!

If 4 ounces of food is satisfying you for 2.5 hours, you are already feeling the difference.

I don't get my first fill until April 21st and need at least 8 ounces to be satisfied but am not hungry for about 5 hours later.

After my second fill, I achieved the level of restriction you're describing--staying satisfied for 2.5-3 hours. I viewed that as "getting close." 3 hours is a pretty long time to remain satisfied, when you stop to think of it! That tapered off a bit before my third fill--I was hungrier more frequently, but satisfied with meals still.

I just had my third fill, and while it may be due to swelling still, I'm noticing a HUGE difference.

It is a slow progression, but I've gotten a little bit more help w/every fill. My feeling of restriction is not the same every day, though. I am definitely more hungry on some days than others. I'm not at optimal restriction yet (after 3 fills - you can see details in my siggy below), but I know I'm getting closer.

I'm hoping my 4th fill (on Monday) might be the one that gets me to the sweet spot. I don't want to be overtight. I would still like to eat decent sized meals, but would like to get to the point that I am not hungry in between. On some days, I am there. Some days I am definitely not. So, I think/hope that I'm getting close. :->

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
