ok. i am worried that my band has slipped or something. how much food are we supposed to be able to eat at one setting? i just had half a bowl of veggie Soup. that is way more than i figured i would be able to eat. is this normal? i have been eating ALOT more than i thought i would be able since being banded. i am going to speak with my DR on friday but until then i thought i would consult with you guys.

When I first started the mushy stage I ate small amounts, because I was afraid to eat too much, but then when I found out I could, I did, but I always kept the idea in mind that I didn't want to stretch my new tummy. I think that 1/2 cup thing is from nutritionist who are still in the G-bypass mode.

Half a bowl of vegitable Soup, eh? Well, I suppose it depends on the size of the bowl. Now, if you bowl was the size of oh, I dunno, a kitchen sink, then it might be possible that there was no restiction. Now, on the other hand, if your bowl is the size of, say, a regular bowl, then that's about 1/2 cup? 3/4 cup? Those are perfectly resonable amounts of bandster proportions. Even a cup and a half of soup is reasonable, I would think.

What exactly are you expecting? a couple of tablespoons and your are done for the meal?

When were your banded, and how much fill do you have?

Cheers!

I can eat 1 1/2 - 2 cups food. I can eat what I did pre-band basically. I was worried about a slip but everyone says it's normal before a fill. I hope that's true.

If you haven't had a fill then yes that is completely normal. I didn't feel like I had a band at all after about 3 weeks postop until after my 1st fill.

And if it's Soup, it's probably going right through your band. One of the things you need to avoid once you are on solids is "soft food syndrome", as you'll end up eating too much. (as well as drinking with your meals, which will wash the food right through as well).

Until you are on solids and have a fill (or more than one fill), you need to monitor your own portions and make sure you're not eating unreasonable amounts. (i.e. aim for 800-1200 cals a day)

Following your own doc's guidelines of course... yada yada :)

:) veggies aren't normally classified as a liquied, but anything in a Soup is considered liquid. The bits are generally very small, about the size of an eraser, in commercial Soups anyway. They are generally cooked until there is no crisp left in the neighborhood of veggies in soup.

Stews I would classifiy as a mushy.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
